It’s interesting watching this early series in David Attenborough’s career (I’m watching episode 2 currently) how good he is at interviewing people & at documenting past events. He’s so well known for detailing the lives & behaviour of animals, that I thought this was what he’d always done from the beginning. Fascinating stuff. 👍😀

Thank you very much for posting this film. David Attenborough is always worth watching, & his voice is often mesmerizing. Like Malcolm Douglas & Les Hiddins films about rural Australia, this is a real treasure. 👍😀

Nearly 60 years+,Sir David Attenborough is nearly 100 years, amazing and remarkable he truly is a Living Legend the man he is interviewing died 20 years later in 1982/83, another true Character who came out from Ireland,I watched the he 1991 Rugby World Cup Quarter Final between Australia vs Ireland and even Jack loved the game eventhou Australia won and beat the All Blacks the following weekend and evening got to Brisbane to watch the Final Against England and Australia Winning it the Tournament and the Country really went off Celebrated especially against the Springboks the next year to confirm Australia was the best at Rugby in 1992,but back to Jack and David and this great documentary, just wish I'd been around for this one.

Crazy to think that at the time of this film the Indigenous Australians weren't classed as Australians. They weren't given the right to vote or weren't even counted in the nations population until the 1967 referendum.

The Aborigines have so much knowledge of our land , they have learnt to synchronise with nature in a beautiful way, yet at the same time, they get treated so unfairly and this is the only thing that is concerning. How can we, at this day of age, be so ignorant of our own kind? Yet you call yourself civilised?.. 😓 I came from Viet Nam almost 30 years ago and have learnt that the Aborigines are so underrated and I am very ashamed for how the majority of us are viewing them. They should and must be respected by all means and we must learn how to approach them in a better, more respectful way. There is so much we can learn from each other

I was only 6 when cyclone Tracy hit. I remember Mum and Dad waking my sister and me up and rushing us into the bathroom. We were in an elevated house in the suburb of Wagaman. We ended up in the linen cupboard in the hallway and we watched as the walls of our house blew away. It's true , you can never forget the deafening sound. Although my poor parents lost everything they owned, Thank God none of us were injured. Anton if it was your Wagaman house you were in when the cyclone hit , our family lived 3 houses down in Batavia St. .

This is what happens, when our justice system fails, by closing youth correction centres Australia wide! When someone has had dozens of offences & have been bailed just as many times, is NOT in jail or correction, then the law has become a sad, sick joke, because there are NO consequences of their actions, as they are back on the street in hours after the police book them!

My dad was aged 22. The house he and family were in was the modern type, ground level on a concrete slab, tile roof, brick exterior and plaster board interior, large sliding glass windows. One would think it would be strong, but it got completely destroyed. A miracle he and family survived, had no injuries The chaos in Darwin and the mass exodus by road and air afterwards would have been similar to the evacuation of Singapore before the Japanese advance in 1942 . Now, 50 years later, the sound of the standard emergency warning signal sends chills down his spine.

The catch and release programme has to stop!!! It’s been going on since I was a kid. It is not working. Criminals get penalties, end of story, shouldn’t matter what colour your skin is. The judge that lets them out should be sacked or charged due to failing to ensure the safety of residents by not locking these ones up or at least ensuring that rehabilitation is mandatory. Integration is the key not segregation, one flag one country. One set of laws!!

Pretty obvious you don't live in the NT. Labor closed 90% of the rehabilitation beds in the NT, and that contributed to the escalation in violent offending. The majority of convicted drug traffickers in the NT are non-indigenous, they do however, target Indigenous communities. The safety and quality of life in the NT has been higher when we've had CLP governments, due to their stricter legislative agenda, the idea that these issues have no political solutions is just defeatist.
