I never believed he was the drunk they said he was..no drunk ever wrote and played songs like this in only a few years. I think he bucked the system a little and the jealous ones beat him down. He had severe back problems and needed medication

Hi, I live in europe (small "e" cause I'm not proud of it...) specifically from a country where English isn't a national language. (Pls forgive my writing) Dear Lady, I found your statement interesting, and I think that you may be right 'bout his alleged drinking habits. (we don't know, and we couldn't) BUT...his songs (music + lyrics) were, and I say... still over a "now-a-days" music's level. I'm not saying this cause of my age, no, I always will applaud his performances and skills because he gave me the certitude he was a pure and true country singer. Lot of poetry in his lyrics along with lively rhythms. I wish you a wonderful 2025 🤗🎶🤠

"Hillbilly Shakespeare" that was dynamite. My father would put Hank on the old record player when I was a little boy 3 or 4 yrs old and would wait until I burst innto tears ." Cool water" always made me cry. I guess that I was just a sensitive little kid. Hank Williams is and will always be my favorite recording artist of all time as I sit here at 66yrs old balling my eyes out. My father's horse was named Old Bill, and I always thought that Dan was the man's horse . Oldan.

Is there a way to get this onto film?
@lcs195624 күн бұрын
This performance was not filmed, it was shot with TV cameras and broadcast live. They simultaneously filmed a TV monitor (kinescope) to preserve the show for future use. Video tape was not yet in wide use.

I never new June Carter was such a good dancer and was so lively. I had only really saw her on Johnny's TV show in the 70's and she always seemed so sedate. Seeing her here was a huge and delightful surprise
@tonywilkerson3999Ай бұрын
June Carter Cash was a little younger back then in the 50s in those Black and White TV programs. She might have hurt alittle more in those Johnny Cash color programs in the 70s. June was a little thinner too in the Black And White 50s TV programs. When you get to 40+ years old somethings tells you not be able to do those same things that you did in your 20s or 30s. Lol I know this to be a fact at 57
@FJBribenАй бұрын
@tonywilkerson3999 I realize that. But I was surprised by the huge contrast. I know people slow down as they get older but I never new she was such a fireball

This must have been shot on film. Does anyone know if these shows are available in high resolution transfers from the original film? This looks like a terrible transfer. Film would have looked much better in the early 2950s.
@lcs195624 күн бұрын
This is video that was transferred to film (kinescope) during the live TV transmission in 1952. The resolution will not be better than the original video.
