I finally decided to play Touhou after getting into Artificial Dreams in Arcadia (Love me some MegaTen y'all). I can't just jump into the middle of a franchise, I love to go all the way back and experience the beginning of every tale. I favor beginnings and endings, you see and it's been such an experience playing 1-6 and seeing ZUN improve as a developer and seeing the franchise grow. If you are new to the series, maybe start off on 6, but absolutely go back and try the PC-98 games! Touhou 2 is by far my favorite one and you'll miss out on really seeing the franchises roots. Any game, no matter how irrelevant, is brand new if you've never played it before!

I remember playing this religiously last year during school. Because of the laptops being owned by my school there was a lot of restrictions on them, specifically no games could be played. However, I stumbled across a dark room and low and behold it worked. I loaded up the game and at first I was confused, what was happening, what was I supposed to do? Eventually I did get the hang of it and it became one of my favourite games to date. The atmosphere in this game goes crazy and I loved how it always managed to keep me on my toes. I had my screen on dark mode somehow, I can't remember, and it made the game feel even more unsettling than it already was. Also when I though of man-eater I thought of a person that just seemed off, a gut feeling that you were in danger. Their skin would be pale almost like they were sick and they would hunt you with the intent to terrorise you first, like an orca does with seals and penguins.

I've been falling into the Touhou rabbit hole after some Bad Apple memes and, funny enough, my little brother somewhat getting into it BECAUSE of him finding the ancient UN Owen Was Her memes. My brother has even been trying to make his own Touhou inspired course in Mario Maker 2 where you're dodging bullets (or rather flying Spineys, a Koopaling, cannons, and fiery Piranha Plants in his case) and you have to beat the Koopaling boss. So we've both been kinda getting into the series and it's cool that Touhou is a series that's connected us.
