Why do all you people crab between the line and the boat? If you crab outside the line you can catch the ones you missed. Don't get it.

Since that one brown was a short why was the dude in the front of the boat more concerned with getting more rods out instead of just putting the fish back and THEN farting around with his gear? Seems a bit irresponsible. me.

so lame man... Anyone who fishes knows that this is not nearly as fun, (or real) as catching a fish in the mouth. when a fish bites in the mouth they fight so much harder than a snag. this is because they meant to bite it, they are the aggressive ones. If this was in native watersheds it would be a whole different story, but have your fun here I guess.

Nothing scary about those seas if you know what you are doing. The boat can take a lot more punishment than you can. Mistake number one is going too slow in the chop, I have a JVX 20, I allow the hull to do it's job and bring the boat to it's minimal plaining speed in heavy chop.

Rookies, your "dipping" technique looks like a lacrosse sweep which is alerting and knocking crabs off down the line. Roller needs more elevation which allows you to scoop the net under the crab and secure it as it falls into the net. Weights aren't heavy enough or are sliding in the mud. Need a cull basket vs placing them directly in a bushel basket. Sure to get a ticket if you get checked and have any culls in a basket.

Riversider 11’3” two hand rod. 7/8 weight. You can get one at All Season Sports website for like 70 bucks. Best rod for the money in my opinion. I am using an Orvis hydros reel. The newer ones of this reel do not have enough drag so I wouldn’t recommend that. I did buy a redington rise for this year and work great. Get the 9/10 weight if you do. 20lb 9 ft leader and 4ft of 16lb tippet. Bead head wholly bugger fly. Good luck

Sorry I don’t have that boat anymore. Now I run a Carolina skiff. I tried to see if I had a pic but couldn’t find a good pic for you.
@silverbullet74343 жыл бұрын
Your baits are a bit to close together if you keep them about 15' apart you will get a better chance if theres lots of crabs. Also some bright color ribbon tied on the bait helps to see it coming up quicker. Just my opinion from doing it that way for years. Chicken necks work well for bait. If people ask you tellem its dog dicks they believe ya too.

We just took a fishing net and took the netting off and worked some chicken wire from Home Depot on it with some wire. Nothing special. I did end up making another one much deeper. This was the first time we ever ran a trot line so a lot of things were done wrong.
