Incredible effort everyone. Only firefighters understand what Ukraine firefighters are dealing with. 2 years ago there was a massive convoy of tenders and equipment, then a year ago this Welsh effort and just last week another 30 tenders and kit went out. To save lives is the greatest gift you can give. Well done each.

When I joined the fire service in 1978 you had to be able to carry a 12stone man 100yards by “fireman’s lift”.

Just applied for fighter role mostly worried about the fitness and interview but since it’s first job I’ve applied for I’m not expecting to get through it though

You say you dont need to be a strapping fireman to do the job ? As you work as a team . But what happens when your team mate goes down and it's up to you to get them out. ????????????

What happens when you need to be able to talk to members of the public about safety but your team mate gets tongue tied? Being able to pull someone out of a fire is such a tiny, tiny part of the job and we have protocols for what you do. Firefighters need many skills. Plus, you really think the fire service hasn't thought about this?!

@@1violalass omg your obviously talking with little or no experience as a firefighter.. When the shit hits the fan and you go down in a job , it's no good having someone who can talk to people about fire saftey, and can't get you out is there it's not rocket science, ???

how do I find out the number of female firefighters if any are at my local station also is it only certain stations who are equipped to deal with hazmat situations ?

if set with intent unless an intended farmers clearance burn gone wrong can be classed as arson and please correct me if I am wrong but arson can carry a life sentence
