Haven't purchased this set (and if I still had storage space I might ... I quite like what this company is putting out). However, not a huge fan of light kits, and no Minifigs is killings this for me (and I don't much care for the ... non LEGO minifigs - they just look SAD). What I will do however, is learn from the designs used here. It's a really good built. and it's really REALLY sad that a company can do what LEGO refuses to do (and they are doing it cheaper with an added benefit - the light kit). Honestly this just goes to show that LEGO could keep the prices as are now and even make "only prints" in sets (there are other sets from this company with no stickers and they are still reasonably priced) without crying that they cost too much to do.

i would definitely swap the boring Dynaheir with Edwin/Edwina; one soldier character would be enough, so I would swap the amnish soldier with a xvart or hobgoblin. I would pick Kevan over Coran, he would be more useful for army building, I would skip Branwyn for Viconia for sure and that barmaid chick with basically anyone from the original game, for example Kagain the dwarf with his winged helmet

The most recent sets feature contact lighting for removable floors and modified bricks to route wiring instead of between plates. Highly recommend revisiting this brand with these updates. The instructions and build quality are on par with Lego but the much improved lighting design is a revelation imo. The minifigs are disposable, but everything else is surprisingly good.

What i'd do for a lord soth minifigure. Not just a printed head, or the cloth wrapped head, but a brand new dragonlance version molded soth helmet. Man that looked so badass. I have the funko pop on my shelf, and i absolutely love it. Cmon lego, keep the dnd stuff coming.

Useful review. I generally dislike lighting in a build as the wires are generally not factored into the design from the start. Wires on view or preventing access feels counterproductive to an enjoyable set. This is somewhat understandable in LEGO sets where the lighting is aftermarket but as a product designed with the lighting in mind it’s just lazy design. Good luck with the channel.

They continue to improve. In the apothecary shop, which I have, the wiring is great, more flat, hidden, and even colored to be closer to the bricks. The roof rests on the structure without hinges. I think their older models like this have more flaws. I love this company and will continue to support them due to their continuous improvements efforts and doing their own thing with copying lego. Thanks for the honest review!

Haven't purchased this set yet but am eyeing it. I'm always open to Lego competitors and spend more time and money on them than Lego now since the quality and designs have gotten so good, and the prices are often just a fraction of Lego's slap-in-the-face prices.

I don't know how much one company rips off another. I could argue the LEGO Ideas sets or designer program "rips off" of the community. "Inspired by" might be more accurate. I don't know. What I can say is that some of the Ali Express "brick minifigures" are very close in my opinion to infringement.

Lego owns the rights to their minifigures, not the bricks (an idea they took from a competitor in the first place). Anyone can legally make building brick sets like this.

I like the smooth transition from the Lae'zel minifigure to the BG III logo :). There's also an Astarion hiding in the current series, based on the elf bard. I was a bit miffed that Zass Tam came with the bare chest / rib cage torso print, otherwise he's have made a great army builder for Red Wizards, including one Edwin Odesseiron. I always feel Drizzt is a bit overhyped and would replace him with either a generic drow (with both female/male head) or a drow priestess, preferably Viconia de'Vir (who is present in all three BGs). Also, Drizzt should probably come with Guenhwyvar, and a full sized panther figurine wouldn't fit the budget. As for future DnD sets, I'd love to see more buildable monsters similar to what's included with the big set. Each could come with a couple fitting minifigures, which could be heroes, NPCs or humanoid enemies. E.g. a dragon and a bunch of kobolds; a demon and imps; a drider and drow warriors; an orc warband including an ogre or troll. These should come out to a reasonable price, comparable to the Harry Potter Aragog set that's currently on the market.

I think you are on a wrong track if you assume if we see furthe DnD stuff it will have anything to do with BG. Seems like the minifigure series goes well enough. No doubt we get a second wave. But some playset type sets would be needed. The big one is was overpriced for general audiences
@boardwithbricks
@boardwithbricks Ай бұрын
You can never be on a wrong track for wish lists. The LEGO group knows the demographics for D&D so I wouldn't hold my breath for anything less than a $100 set or minifigs. It comes down to a few factors: what they can do with the licence, how long they have the licence/rights, any predetermined agreed upon sets, what makes the most $.

JUST USE A BEARD!!!!!!! A long beard peice covers the zaz tan’s skeletal printing perfectly. And if you’re going to use it for a wizard it would have a beard anyways. I would recommend that over melting anymore Lego pieces! Sorry that happened though. Plus, erasers work as well. Pink erasers to erase printing. I’ve use that on some ninjago shields myself.

I also don't get why they add those plates to the horses although they cannot stick to them. I'm still happy they do though, since it makes it easier to differentiate between the different knockoff brands when ordering, as the quality of the different brands varies a lot. The horses with the useless plates are by Koruit, which in my opinion is the third party brand with the best quality. It's even better than LEGO's quality, because Koruit puts the sprue marks on the inside of the horse's legs, while LEGO's sprue marks are visible on the ankles. Also Koruit prints the horse's head from the front and wraps the print around the head, while LEGO prints the heads separately from both sides which leads to the print misaligning on the forehead. The horses with the regular plates are by XINH. As far as I know, they have more variety when it comes to the different horses and bardings they produce, but the plastic is not as high quality as Koruit's because XINH does not have that matte finish and they also print the heads like LEGO does.

Personally I'd say it's a waste of money buying fake Lego. It's essentially throwing it away. At least with an official Lego horse, you may buy it for $6 and find that if you don't want it in future, you can sell it for maybe $3. Likewise you can buy a preowned horse for 3 or 4, and sell that in time for a similar amount, or more if it ever goes vintage. When buying fake Lego, it will never have resale value, and if it does, you're looking at pennies in comparison. If you buy with the intent never to sell it, and it's purely personal and fun, then sure, but if in time, as your budget increases and you want genuine parts, eventually you'll find that the $30 you originally spent on fake lego, in time you could have saved up the extra 20 to buy the genuine parts in the first place. Granted if you're getting super premium rare high value fakes, then that can be fair enough, and some of these fakes are also so unique for prints etc, but then at that point when army building Lego, is it even the same Lego when it uses 3rd party elements?
@zombieheadshot4737
@zombieheadshot4737 3 ай бұрын
Exactly. If I spend $100 on real LEGO, I can always get at least most of that money back, often times more as they increase in value over time. Whereas if you spend $100 on fake LEGO, you’ll never be able to get that money back

@BraveLittlePixel
@BraveLittlePixel 3 ай бұрын
@@aPonderousChain I'm not thinking of it as an investment, I'm thinking about it as not buying fake products online that are made low-quality. If you do explicitly only care about the toy nature of it, then why bother with Lego at all since it's a premium product. This isn't in terms of investment, but more for actual value of product just as is, the true value of 3rd party fakes is next to nothing, and it's not for resale purposes, but initial sale purchases. People see these products as cheaper ways of getting Lego, but really it's just wasting money, when you could just get the real thing. I detest Lego investment bros as much as the next person. They're toys and not meant to be kept in box to be sold for 5x the price in 10 years to a basement dweller. But when it's $1 minifigs or a $7 version of a $100 set, it's pretty clear that that's a waste of money.

I buy often these alternate brands, as simply in Chile there aren't even open bricklink shops (currently), and buying abroad often means sending the package may cost as much as the package... Meanwhile, often aliexpress is free shipping. I often feel bad thought, because these designs of prints and customs are of artists and people who got their designs stolen.
