I can imagine hearing those beer ads on the radio during breaks on a football or baseball game.

Hi - one thing that I've never understood is why did the US decide to take out the centres of 45s? I know it was done for all jukeboxes all over the World to make it easier for the disc to go on the platter. But why for ordinary folk at home? Only the US did this. It must have been a nightmare for DJs in the 70s & 80s when swapping to & from 12" singles to 7" singles -- I guess they had to put in those plastic centres on all their 7" singles - otherwise they'd have to keep taking that centre block on & off the spindle. Why did you do that, do you know? I've always wondered.
@DuffyLaudick3 ай бұрын
It had a lot do with competition. They didn't want the other companies copying the format for their record players. These companies were not only record labels, but manufactured the stereos and turntables as well. Everything was patented, so if you wanted to use that design, you had to pay the creating company. As we all know, everything just melded together any way.
@Muswell3 ай бұрын
@@DuffyLaudick ?? But ALL of the record companies in the US took the centres out of 45s didn't they? I thought all of your singles were like that instead of the small hole.

I hate because I love. I crave violence because I cannot longer tolerate those who desire dominance and spread bigotry. I have been pushed into a corner where I have come to understand that no words can change the state of things. While we sit doing nothing, preaching our hearts out to try and change the minds of our enemies - who are our neighbors and family - from harming the weak and vulnerable, they empower themselves to take more and more from this world. I hate them because they cannot be swayed, they do not want words, they want blood and power. I love their victims, the vulnerable small groups, the children, the sufferers, the dead and buried. I am sorry, Chaplin, but sometimes peace and safety must be won.
No quiero gobernar o conquistar a nadie.

Duffy, do you think that 45 rpm players will ever come back ? That may seem like a stupid question by today's standards, but I think they would sell. I know that I would buy one or maybe two. I have bought a couple of re-furbished repaired 45's but the quality is not so good.
@DuffyLaudick3 жыл бұрын
I don't think so, it's too specialized. What I do love about the old RCA or even one of my old turntables is that I can stack my records and have them play one after the other without having to get up every 3 minutes to turn the record over or change the record.

Nice video, I remember hearing about this tornado. I was just 10 years old. It goes to show that tornadoes can happen anywhere in the world. It happened literally 9 days after my 10th birthday.I’m originally from the US state of South Carolina, but I lost my home to a fire when I was about 15 so we had to move up to Ohio. To an area that supposedly doesn’t get any tornadoes but they get warnings. Which can obviously usually indicate a tornado.

Has anyone tried the generic beer before sold in 80's? It was a solid white can with a thick lettering stating BEER on the can. It was 1/4 - 1/2 the cost of the cheapest lable brand I was 14 when my mom bought it two different times. Obviously she didn't like it. And I felt like we were Kmart shopping again, since stem from weath.

Beer tasted great before " modern" techniques to brew it in short time. Spring beer was considered a tonic . Remember can openers were called a church key. My dad loved going to the Narragansett brewery on his birthday , free beer for the birthday tour. They limited it to one though.
