They will be less absorbant for sure. change to a regular pad once the padcicle isnt cool and soothing anymore

A good thing to keep in mind in regards to labour pain, is to know (and remind yourself) that you are not in pain the whole time. The pain comes and goes- in fact, based on the average length and frequency of contractions, you will only be in active pain 7,7% of the labour (Milli Hill, The Positive Birth Book). And remember that birth is not a competition- if you cannot cope, then opt for pain relief.

If it's your own child, it seriously doesnt matter. The class promotes using a doll but if you have your own baby and showing others on a video, the baby has real life ques that are helpful in teaching others.

What sort of overnight support could a postpartum Doula offer to an exclusively breastfeeding, cosleeping mom?

Great question! A postpartum doula can support the feeding parent by bringing water and a snack, help get comfortable/set up w baby before the feed. They can also help by supporting the feeds with switching and latches, burp and change baby and hold upright for a bit, bring back to parents bed and if baby’s not sleeping offer contact nap. There’s lots of different ways they can help provide support throughout the night.
