You are not rescuing any of their bunnies. They take them back if a person needs to surrender them. Not to mention the fact that they are a specialty breed that people pay $120 for. These are not mixed breed rabbits that people are breeding in Petco cages. They also provide a much needed service for kids showing in FFA and 4H.

This is BRILLIANT! I have been searching for a solution for wet feed! Not only do you have to worry about making your rabbits sick (I know here is South Georgia like in Florida it does not take long at all for wet feed to sour) but with feed prices going up and up it hurts my heart to have to dump out that feed! Thank you so very much for this information!

I wanted to thank you for your very informative videos.. I have had 3 does kindle this week, 4 more to go.. I had one doe bred on 4/17. She made no effort to build a nest and I pulled her nest box on the 21st cleaned it and put it away. Yesterday she was frantically pulling hair and stashing hay in the back of her cage. I gave her the box back with fresh bedding, she kindled at 35 days.. had I not seen her ‘hay mustache’ that you pointed out, I very likely would’ve missed it

I purchased a proven doe to add to my small hobby rabbitry. She was supposed to have been pregnant when she came to me, she never had kits so I figured she lost them in the stress of transport. No big deal, I bred her with my buck. I have been trying to get a litter from her for months now… today is day 31 again, and she has pulled hair (she hasn’t done that with me yet) but no babies. Keeping fingers crossed I don’t have to send her down the line, I really love her.

I completely understand. The heat and stress can have an affect on them. I have a doe that had three failed attempts where she delivered and didn’t pull fur, didn’t have them in the nest box and didn’t feed them. I was frustrated to say the least but figured I would give it one more shot. She did everything exactly as you would expect that time and has since become one of my best breeding does. So, it can sometimes work out, she may just need more time. When I have a doe that I’m struggling to get pregnant, I’ll hang around to see if I can get as many fall offs as possible and then leave her in the cage with the buck for 24 hrs. In desperation, I’ve also bred a stubborn doe to three different bucks in a 24 hr period to see if it was an issue with a particular buck that she was not interested in. I’ve learned to be cautious with purchasing so-called proven does from other breeders. Not all are honest. I’ve had them pawn them off on me, knowing they were nearly impossible to breed or past their prime and just couldn’t get pregnant. What’s bad is when you pay a lot for one that does not produce. Hope it works out for you.

@@apopkahollands4150 I appreciate the feedback! This is my 4th attempt at breeding her. I know it’s not my buck, he doesn’t have issues with any other does, I always get 3-4 fall-offs. The first time, she didn’t do anything with her nest box, the second time she used it as a litter box. The last time, she moved some of the straw around and this time she’s made a nest and put some fur in it. Im hopeful!

@apopkahollands4150

They typically won’t have babies and then cover a hole up afterwards if your meaning with dirt. In the wild, a bunny will burrow into the ground and make a cavity in the ground where they were out there nesting materials and then have their babies in there. It would actually be best to have domesticated pet bunnies off the ground except for play time. They are susceptible to many insects, predators and even diseases. 😇

We use an air hose when it’s just light hair here n there but when they go thru a molt, they shed so much that the hair can get wrapped around the wire where it’s difficult to get off. Plus, I’ve found that when we blow off the hair, the loose hairs end up landing somewhere else in/on the cage. 😅 Thanks for your input 😇

My first words when I opened this video was “oh god what a beautiful setup” thank you so much for sharing your journey! I’m 15 and I’m just now getting super into rabbits. Me and my dad raised many mutts back in 2017 when I was about 9 we started with a bunch of rabbits and cages he bought from a guy but we slowly got out of raising them. In 2021 I bought a trio of mini Rex and used an old three hole cage that we had left over. I lost the does in the summer and sold the babies that I had at the time. So I was down to just my buck. I thought I was done breeding till I found a breeding pair of pedigreed Holland lops.. long story short I’m now 15 and I currently have 5 does that are pregnant I have 10 breeders total and I raise mini Rex, Holland lops, and lionheads. I just joined 4-h and I’m going to be getting into ARBA shows soon. I’m homeschooled so I get to spend plenty of time with the rabbits and all my other animals. I’m involved in my church, I sing in the youth worship. I’ve started my own KZbin channel and in my opinion I’ve come so far and I’m so heavily blessed. My family fosters and I currently have 5 siblings. When my cousin was around 4 years old he was diagnosed with a brain tumor, he was treated at st.Jude children’s hospital and god brought him along his journey and he is now 13 and looking at him now you would never know the struggle he has been through. I know this comment was all over the place, but I wish you the best in your beautiful life!! God bless you!!!

I greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your journey. Sounds like you have a genuine passion for rabbits. I thoroughly enjoyed raising and breeding several breed types at the same time. However, it’s sooo much easier and more enjoyable now for me to work with just one breed. I’ve had way less complications than when we had several varieties. 4H is a great place to start first with showing your rabbits. FFA is also a great program to get into. My kids were all homeschooled as well. There are some areas that will allow kids that are homeschooled to participate in FFA chapters. Might be something to look into. Wishing you the very best as well and God bless ya. ❤️😇

@@apopkahollands4150 thank you for the response! I definitely see the benefits of having just one breed, but I’m the kind of person who has to try ‘em all 😂. I’ll probably eventually narrow it down to one or two breeds but there’s so many more I wanna try before I do, to figure out which ones I like the best. Though I’m not a huge fans of breeds like Dutch, crème da’argent, and Californians because I like getting varieties of colors and patterns. I’ll definitely look into FFA I’ve heard about it a lot but never looked it up. Once again god bless🥰🤍

@@MUDDUCKS47 Raccoons are like little demons. LoL I don’t put much past them when they are determined. That said, I use 1/2”x1” all the way around the cage. If the cage is designed so that the wire door sits flat on the cage, they are less likely to realize there is a door. I had issues with raccoons yrs ago but that was when I had hutches with 1”x2” wire on the sides and too and wood framed doors that had bolt slide locks. They reached right through the wire and pulled my kits far enough out that they left just a bloody head in the cage. One time, they slide the lock open. With this new design, I have never had a raccoon incident. Also, we are at a new location now and I have electric wire on my cages as an additional precaution.
