What's the differece between the "Drive" knob and the "Saturation" knob ? For me the drive knob sounds more like an overdrive pedal as the saturation knob sounds more as the gain knob of an all tube amp (like an Orange AD200)

Thanks for this review! I just saw this pedal yesterday, but didn't know what all it could do. My brother, who recently passed away used a pedal board w/several pedals mounted on it. I have a few pedals and was contemplating on buying a board, then fing a power supply for it all. With this pedal, I could afford to part with some of my existing pedal. I'm a trucker, so this would be good for the road, too, it looks like. And I found you by accident, but you're on my radar now! 😉 👍🎸

Maybe someone can help me with this question-- let's say on this, I have it setup so I have on an octaver, a phaser, and a synth. While playing, am I able to turn off or turn back on any of these three pedals? So, just using my feet, I could turn off the octaver, then turn it back on, then turn off the synth?

Great review mate! Really informative and i like your style of playing! I am planning on getting that Pedal as a gift to myself soon ;) Do you think that I need a compressor as well, or it can stand on its own on a recording or live gig?
@bassalien
@bassalien 5 ай бұрын
There is a built-in compressor, and yes I think it could stand on it's own! But with most all-in-one pedals, it's hard to beat a stand-alone analog compressor. I'd say start with this, and add on other stand-alone if you feel you need them. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching! Some people think Krist detuned his other 3 strings as well, but I couldn't find evidence of that and it actually would make this song a little harder to play due to the finger reach if tuned that way.

It will work with any 9v power supply of the correct polarity (if the polarity is wrong, it will not fry it, just not work), as long as it's enough mA (milliamps). Soooo for example Thomann NT 0910 would work with it

@@bassalien Its got a lot of compliments. It can be very transparent. Go check out some videos. The worst thing about it is the price, but its a very well crafted pedal that can also be used as a DI. Comes with a fuzz circuit too so you're getting a lot of value.

I've had this unit 3 years or so. I still dont understand why the 20db cut switch for active basses...on the BACK of the unit/? how would a person be able to switch it back at a gig when using more than one bass both non active and active. Seems like a no brainer. Fortunately I have the option on my pedalboard but I hate bending over and doing it in between songs when switching basses. Maybe some day they will address this. Still a great preamp.
@bassalien
@bassalien Жыл бұрын
Yeah good point! I suppose you could have your passive bass in the front input at fixed "0 dB", and 1 or 2 active basses in the back with the -20 dB pushed. I think they figure you will plug up to 3 basses in and leave the -20dB as is during a gig or something who knows! Thanks for watching!

Does this simulate and amp vs. just plugging into an interface? Replace as a DI box? Why buy this vs. RBI?
@bassalien
@bassalien Жыл бұрын
Yes it's a preamp and DI box so you can send the output to an amp or a PA, or direct to a recording interface. Some use this with an RBI as you can leverage the additional inputs and outputs this GED 2112 has for separate routed signals. If you want more inputs or control over your tone you would get the GED2112 as it has 2 different shapable channels as I show in the video. Other than that they're somewhat similar. The RBI is more straight forward as far as how to wire it up. The GED you would have to either combine the signals or have a mixer to get the best sound to a single input like a traditional bass amp.

@@bassalien I'm not a Bass expert. Les is my number one, because of his musical genius not only playing and singing at the same time, but also the lyrics, musicianship etc. Primus is my fav band and the Beasties are the band of my life, but both bands, to me, lost their essence in the mid 90's. Apart from "Animals Shouldn't" I can't listen to a whole Les/Primus album since the Brown Album. There's a guy called Karl Alvarez, he plays for ALL/Descendents, he's also a Bass superhero. And by the way, ALL's singer, Chad Price, is to me the best voice in Rock n' Roll History. Check a song called "ww.Sara" by ALL. But even not being an expert, I know a great bassist when I see one, and you're defintely one of them. There's also the Bass player who played most of the soundtrack of the movie "Hair", Wilbur Basscomb, he also rocks.
