This video really sucked me into Alice's rabbit hole, at the time, i have finished playing both games. I have mixed feelings with Madness Returns, but AM Alice is such an amazing game. Thank you so much for introducing me into this amazing series!

Odd since the play through I’ve seen of this didn’t have the glitches

Such a shame because a premise based around dreams and nightmares has so much potential for creativity.

I’ve always wanted to play this game and American McGee’s Alice when I was younger but I didn’t have a PC that could handle them. I was able to get Jericho and Alice: Madness Returns for my 360! 😅

A better plot would have been "Alice got a job in an orphanage, the place caught fire, she got the last of the kids out and was then knocked out by someone but came to and managed to escape as the place burned down and now she's in prison while the police investigate whether "a prior lunatic" burned the building down WITH HER BOSS INSIDE (as they haven't inspected the building for remains yet)." Then you could have Alice going to Wonderland questioning whether she killed her boss or not and torched the place, each of her friends asking her vague, yet suspiciously pointed questions that jar memories from her that she'd never really thought about, but all come together raising red flags that quickly point towards HER EMPLOYER burning the building down for the insurance money. In a real world cut scene we then see him caught, hauled into the station and admitting that he did it, had actually locked the doors, had no idea how Alice opened it to get the kids out and was going to "come back from an outing to a burned out building with everyone dead" and just pin the blame on a dead Alice to collect it, given her past history with "buildings burning down" and institutions. Just a vague outline of an idea, but it would explain Alice having a relapse, the inner turmoil of not wanting to confront a traumatic situation even when you know deep down it's not your fault and the big payoff where she's proven innocent and perhaps works for a happy and successful new orphanage afterwards as her "reward", we see her photo on a newspaper proclaiming "Alice Liddel - Local Hero" with a photo of the burning building under it for a dark twist on a positive situation. Something like that.

Alice madness returns what's my first taste of the series, so most of these points don't really count for me, story or mechanic wise, these were my first experience with this series, I really liked this game, I consider it some of my favorite games I played, I really liked the astheatic of this game

Much better than Madness Returns! My favourite game.

Loved the video! But there's some things you got wrong: they're not in a boarding school, the first episode is "Gloomer Rumor", no one in the show has an age (there's a lot of inconsistencies but the main cast are shown to be taller than child characters, the wiki isn't the most accurate either). But regardless I'm just so happy to get more content about Ruby Gloom ^^ This show came out when I was 3 so it's so nostalgic for me~

As I was fascinated with it's looks too, I could've been happy trading them for less linear locations. As seen in games of this era, they could've only managed these graphics on the XBox 360 by cutting everything. It worked for Borderlands (except cars), for UT3 (except being the less played UT game now) and for Condemned: Criminal Origins. The latter is made to feel like a claustrophobic thriller, but that doesn't fit any type of ambition Jericho had, and they should've toned down the graphics to flesh out thematic levels more and, maybe, had some time to invest in other things. It's really a product that makes you imagine it's potential more than focusing on a current gameplay, lol.

Father Raulings is technically a Chaplain. In the Army, they typically hold the rank of Captain or above and are referred to as "Chaplain So and So" instead of Captain, or in this case, "Father". Given his age, I'm pretty sure he's atleast a Lt. Col.

Weird game! It's probably a good thing it's so short as I can imagine it would get pretty frustrating if you failed after 40 minutes or so during your first few attempts at it, what with the seemingly trial and error aspects of the identification mechanic. Great video!!

Great retrospective! It makes me feel like playing the game and I wasn't aware that it was included with Alice Returns (which I own but haven't played yet) so I look forward to playing it there, even if it might be a bad port...

Honestly I kinda distanced myself from stuff American McGee makes because of how he was defending confederate statues saying taking them down will "erase history" back in like 2017 on his Twitter I'm not gonna lie from what I heard about the story of Alice asylum I'm really dreading this "potential" third game
@DamienStarry0w02 жыл бұрын
Ok so bit of a update so apparently while I was looking at fanart I fucking found out that American McGee is doing nfts and is acting like a childish condescending prick to anyone who disagrees with him including his own fans and blocks them yeah no I fucking hope his new sequel never fucking sees the light of day I'm so pissed at him holy shit this is a new low I hoped that maybe he would've grew as person from when he was arguing about confederate statues but it's plain to see that he still being a know it all asshole arguing with 17 year old teens

I haven't played Fatal Frame 3 in a few years but I remember being frustrated with the pacing and sheer length of the game. After 10 hours I just wanted it to END!! xD It had some cool moments but it's still probably my least favourite Fatal Frame game. Great analysis! You mentioned a lot of the opinions I had after playing and the explanation of the story really helped me since it did seem a bit all over the place when I played. Amazing video, well done!

I loooove this game. It’s my favorite in the series for a number of reasons. I love the themes of the moon and masks, I like the location and lore… but this game does have major problems that not even I can look past. It’s become a tradition in Fatal Frame for each game to have a confusing and convoluted story. I loved Crimson Butterfly for being a standalone story only loosely and thematically tying in with the first. Fatal Frame 3 is my least favorite for forcing everything to be connected in some way or another while trying to maintain it’s own standalone plot. I love the forth entry for being just barely connected with the previous games and presenting the story in a non linear fashion. The games biggest problem (other then clunky motion controls) is that there isn’t enough information provided for a game trying to tell it’s story in such a way. If you’re gonna build a puzzle for people to solve it better have all the peaces to assemble. And this was done completely deliberately. The game was code eloped with Suda 51 with his team alongside the original crew behind the prior entries and this game reeks of Suda 51. I only played one of his games before and while he’s a competent director this guy really loves to tell a story in the most confusing and fragmented way. Even in the Japanese there’s no way of knowing what’s going on in the game. I played Mask of the Lunar Eclipse at least 4 or 5 times and I still don’t know what exactly is going on. I’m just as confused as the protagonists. Also I swear 3 of the chapters feel like meandering. Nothing of importance happens for 1/5th of the game you’re just traversing the hospital and picking shit up yet main plot wise Ruka is as clueless as she arrived.
