Loved Villwock in Pico's, and when he went to Bud, I totally didn't like him!

I always hated it that a lot of the Seattle fans cheered against hometown boy Chip Hanauer.

I always cheered for Chip instead of the Budweiser until of course he started driving the Budweiser.

I never have forgiven Dave Villwock for giving the finger to Fred Leland and taking the money Bernie Little waved at him to go drive for the Budweiser team. He was basically a Hydroplane whore.

The Lined Up starts were the worst idea in the history of hydroplane racing.

I worked with Miss Madison from 1988 till 1992 in 1992 was the first year I got to travel with them and that was one of my best years lots of fun but it can be lots of work too the only reason I left is I got called back to work my regular job I had before when I got laid off and making four times five times the money. I would have loved to have stayed but I had to go to where the money was. Mark Tate was driving back in the day and now his son Andrew Tate is driving for Miss Madison racing which is sponsored by Goodman real estate now so now we have the boat to beat Mike Hanson was a good driver but we did not have that much of a boat back then because it had been through several accidents. If Miss Madison racing had a boat back then like they have today Mike would have won a lot of races

Remember when the Seattle media cared about the hydroplane races. Now they only care about the blue angels and that's it.

Cool seeing piston boats on the water and the damaged Beacon Plumbing take the win. I wonder if the driver was aware of the missing parts. While I was watching the race and he didn't slow down I thought, yeah the boat is lighter now and obviously did little to change the way the boat flew or very little if so. I think the smaller GP hydros usually run without a rear wing so I wasn't too surprised when he kept standing on the throttle. Is this the same U - 37 hull that lost it's front left skid fin in 2010 and ran into a bulkhead? Same boat number and yellow paint but running turbine instead of piston power. If so the hull had been beat up pretty good I would say.

i was a rescue diver on the Circus Circus on the double blowovwr with the Miss Madison. The Circus Circus was broken pretty much in half and was being held together by the deck friberglass. Other than being stunded and a couple bruses by what happened the driver was ok.

Spectacular boats with a long history. If you remember Gar Wood in the 1930's, bandleader Guy Lombardo and his boat Tempo, Bill Muncey and Chip Hanauer...these are the legendary drivers of the past in the most beautiful form of motorsport...the Unlimited Hydroplanes!

I was once told when these boats crash, that the drivers whole cockpit detaches like a pod to help save the driver. Was any of that true? Cause these videos dont seem to catch no pods flying away from the rest of the boats.
