Just picked up a copy of this and don't have anything to play it on just yet but am in the process of getting something. So cool to see what it looks like! Thank you for the preview!

You have to wonder about Ken Films’ choice in which films to release as digests - REPTILICUS, really?????

Johnny Sokko! And for this silent digest, battles in 18 fps ….

My God ! I had loads of these films on 8mm bought from secondhand shops, brings it all back how I used to have just a silent projector, its good to see them with added sound now. Of course I now have a huge collection of them on DVD. but those Americom ones with the floppy discs...murder trying to sync the sound with the film Sync ? I sunk each time !

Saw both films in the theater as a kid and thought they were the coolest.

Even though it’s now a moot point 50 years after the fact, but the editors of these 50-foot digests tended to linger on some scenes far too long, eating up precious footage for kids who bought these from Kmart ….

Looks like it was hard to be a teenager in those times, kidding of course 😆. I had these 2 movies in 200 ft reel back then. This was part of a new era for horror movies as they had to compete against a new generation of Hammer films and sifi movies. Still entertaining though. Thanks for this great addition.👍

This one is so cool and the music fits perfectly (of course this is the actual film soundtrack 🤭) . I wish I had this one in my collection back then. Thanks again for the great memories.

The last 2 (House of Frank and A & C meet Frank) are among my favorites and I still got them in my collection in 200 feet reel. I bought them at the beginning in the early 70s. Thanks 🙂

A & B along with the 3 Stooges had always been my favorites as a kid. I own A & B complete movies collection on DVD but didn't have this one on 8mm film. Thanks for the sharing.🙂

You're on fire these days. Another great movie. I had this one on 200ft back then. Really loved the atmosphere of this film but I always thought that lugosi didn't make a great Frankenstein monster. Glen Strange would have been a better choice. Thanks again. 🙂

The amount of leader they put on these 50-footers was about as long as the digest itself!

A double feature films like the good old time at the theater. 📽 Having done myself some 8mm film digitalising, I am impress by the quality of the final result of yours. BTW I didn't know the Mountain Films products. Were they in the USA. Thanks again the great memories. 😉

I'm just recording these films with my phone, so I'm really lucky with how they're turning out. I bought these films off ebay, and as far as I know, Mountain Films digests weren't commonly available in the US. It's fun to finally see what our neighbors "across the pond" watched back in the day. I'm glad you enjoyed this. The real pleasure of collecting has always been sharing with friends.

Lee Van Cleef has done everything: the good, the bad, the ugly and the hero 😄Looking at the "special effects" (quite special alright) for the alien, they were sure very low in their budget. But as a kid at that time it was surely great to watch. Thanks again Patrick for the great video.

Probably one of the greatest superimposed dialogue lines in Ken Films’ history -- “You’re ugly.”
@johnhourigan60498 ай бұрын
When I collected these in the 1970s as a pre-teen, the on-screen action slowed down to 18 fps lent a “detached” viewing experience. But good memories, nonetheless!

Love the music! I'd love to see a remake/mashup of this, Teenage Frankenstein and Blood of Dracula.

I remember having ordered this film together with ''I was a teenage Frankenstein'' back in the 70s (and a couple more which I don't remember the titles). Not a classic but still entertaining for a kig my age. What surprised me most was to watch Michael Landon in a horror movie. Thanks for sharing.😉

Further evidence that what was depicted on the Ken Films’ box art wasn’t representative of the actual film/digest …. 🙄

The magazine ad you put looks like the ones from Famous Monster Filmland back in the 70s. In fact, this is where I discovered for the first time these 8mm movies and start collecting them. I also have collecting these magazines which I was very found of. I bought Mighty Joe Young in 200 ft reel at the same time I bought Son of Kong. Thanks again for those great memories.

It's probably been over 60 years since I've seen this headline edition. I used to have it back in the early to mid 1960s. No longer owning a home movie projector, I hoped to finally see it again on line. I've found a complete edition on 2 Reeler's channel, and have a DVD of the feature film, but always wanted to see the old Castle Films edit again. I've been watching your channel almost daily, and today I was delighted to find your inclusion of this film. Thank you so very much for returning a wonderful childhood memory.

One of the first super 8mm movie I bought back in 1973 during a trip to Manchester NH (visiting my aunt Aurele). I still have it but converting it into digital. Silent on 200 feet reel. The other two I bought were A&C champ of the chase and the mummy's ghost. That was the beginning of a great collection and the best time of my life. I transformed my parents basement into a movie theater (very basic) and regularly invited my friends for a projection. This A&C movie is one of my favorite. You bring back great emotions in me my friend. Thanks for sharing.

Further proof of Ken Films’ notoriously wonky editing - a large part of the preciously short footage of the 50-foot digest is of Trogg holding a doll (?!?!).
@johnhourigan6049 Жыл бұрын
This digest of a Universal "monster rally" packed a lot into a 200-foot (yet 165-feet) reel. Even as a kid, I didn't like how the silent 18fps "slowed down" the action, and eventually acquired the sound version of this digest to remedy that.

Not one of Castle’s best, but they didn’t have a lot to work with as House of Dracula is the weakest entry in the Universal monster series.

Wow, a good chunk of the digest is taken up by that very slow pan that opens the digest!
