@Hackwood Electrical Do you have the qualifications for a Gold Card? Back in my day it was a £20,000 a year Salary and playing golf with your Bank Manager. I am unsure if David is being sarcastic but if his answer of No is true then I entirely agree with you. It’s all down to specific certificates and I’m unsure what route David took but I recall (not confirmed) a video of him where he said how he did it and I’m sure he came from another career possibly data. I’d like to know if the highly respected (by me) John Ward or Gary from GSH would answer no to the same question. It also seems Gordon from efixx has not the credentials nor Nick Bundy. Again both extremely competent and experienced. But it’s clear the card recognises bits of paper above knowledge and experience time served. I’m going through it now with legacy certificates as I’m a fossil. Seems a bit of a cash cow too. I have never been asked for one but I suppose the time may come so may as well have a go at navigating the application process. The H&S exam seems aimed at the brain dead blundering idiot that might try and insert a plug upside down, the questions showing a blatant answer amongst a group of ridiculous answers, but after doing it for £54 discovered my NEBOSH exempted me from that bit 😔Given the whole push of the ECS card is to align everyone with a Level 3 certificate status, to me it stands to reason the H&S element should also be of that level, not a pub quiz. I don’t think my Compex even features on it. The application website is clunky, the photo I have to get endorsed by a Unite union rep and I’m not a member or I can pay a solicitor or Judge or get my MP to sign it. All in all a load of Waffling Bollocks. I guess you have to respect the fact a person has managed to navigate to the successful issue over one which possibly shows greater experience and determination than the underlying qualifications. If my application doesn't work out or goes with a hitch I think I will create the "Non Gold Card Holder's Wednesday Club" for KZbin. Only non-holders need apply.

@@montystelevision3238 yeah I can have/had a gold card but somehow they expire which also makes no sense. I don’t want to pay the money for a stupid multi choice exam that proves nothing when you pass…

@@hackwoodelectrical The ECS H&S and environment exam is needed to progress any application unless as I learned after you have a qualifying exemption. These have to be “higher” which is a laugh because the ECS standard appears to be rock bottom and the cite things like IOSH to exempt. Its clearly a money train as the card expires and needs a paid renewal.
