Some people may notice some initial shedding when they start minoxidil . This will recover , by 3-4 months you will generally notice an improvement depending on your initial diagnosis . If you stop half way through this process you may experience a little more shedding then your will go back to where you would have been if you had never taken the medication . Regards Kay

mam , i am styding for jee and sleep daily at 3 a.m and wake up at 10 a.m , this is routine for 1 year and my frontal hairline thinned within 6 to 8 months , is it due to such stress and my eyes are always covered with dark circles and my family has no balding history or is it due to traction alopecia because entire scalp pains when touch or pain when wave in air , i cover my head head to prevent such pain , and whenever i rub my dry hair i see dendruff and hair falling rapidly i am 17 male , please reply is it temporary TE or traction alopecia i dont feel it is traction alopecia because in this year my scalp went super painfull , before i used it comb anyhow they are just smooth and no pain fully dense and now they are just with 0 volume , only frontal part thinned and and parting in temples my grandpa died with full head hair

0.25mg 3 x per week is generally tolorated well . However it does come in higher doses such as 0.50 % 0.75 % 1% 1% daily is equivalent to 10mg of oral finasteride , so you do need to be mindful if you are self dosing as you may be taking more then needed which will increase your chances of potential side effects . I recommend you consult with your specialist so they can advise on the dose that suits you best . Regards Kay

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing these feelings. Generally any side effects that finasteride may cause are temporary , short term . Once you stop taking finasteride any side effects that it may have caused will cease. Usually with a week . It takes 30 days for finasteride to leave your soft tissues. Hopefully you are feeling back to normal . If the numbness continues I would recommend consulting with your specialist or GP . Regards Kay

If you have androgentic alopecia 1ml will be sufficient as it is the vertex and crown that is commonly affected . It is best to use sparingly as too much product can result in scalp irritation , itchy , flaking scalp . The foam can be a litle harder to apply as you often end up with excess product on the cuticle rather then the scalp. Product on the hair itself is wasted . Try to apply directly onto the scalp . You may find the drops easier to apply directly onto the scalp . Hope that helps. Regards Kay

Hairloss will depend on the type of chemotherapy you will be having . Some treatments cause none to slight thinning , while others may cause complete hairloss. With most chemotherapy treatments , hair shedding will occur 2-4 weeks after commencing treatment . Your hair will grow back once your treatment is finished . In very rare cases if the chemotherapy /radiation treatment is high and depending on the drug used it may cause your hair not to grow back . To reduce your shedding , you could opt for a cold cap if this is available through your treating hospital . Prior to treatment you may consider cutting your hair shorter to reduce the stress of seeing long hair shedding . Also you should choose a wig prior to commencing treatment . Hi -please tell me why only a few hours after applying Vichy Dercos Aminexil ampoules , I felt a headache and then later , heart palpitations.. Please tell me why??? I thought it didnt have same side effects as Minoxidil.

Hi Christina, Looking at the ingredients , it contains a similar compound to minoxidil ( Diaminopyrimidine Oxide ) This will open up/dialate blood vessels which will increase the blood supply to the hair follicle which can increase hair growth . Although this product is normally tolorated well , some people can be sensitive to it and have side effects. Allthough it is low dose it can cause headache and heart palpitations. You should discontinue use. If the product is the cause of your headache and palpatations these symtoms will subside. It is always recommened if you exprience these symptoms you consult with your health professional to rule out any underlying medical conditions. Hope this helps you . Often when purchasing these products the retailer/sales assistant is not aware the compound is similar to minoxidil or is minoxidil .

Densifique by Kerastase may give you some benefit . It can help regrow upto 3000 new and better quality hairs. It will not give you as much regrowth as minoxidil , however 3000 is a good start. The product also plumps up the cuticle , strengthens hair and reduces shedding . It grows hairs via stemcells that are in your hair follicle. We recommend you use one vile per day for 4 months , although Kerastase recommend 3 months. We recommend 4 as we know an additional month on this product will give you better results . This product DOES NOT increase the blood supply to the hair follicle . I have worked with thousands of patients that have used this product , in that time I have only had a couple of patients have some scalp sensitivity . It is available world wide. PRP may be an option . Saw palmetto if you have female pattern hairloss may give you some benefit or perhaps an antiandrogen . Yes you can use it on your beard , with your focus being the skin for absorption into the hair follicle . You do not have to gradually stop with this one as it is equivalent to approximately 1.8% minoxidil. You may choose to apply a maintenance program twice a week or just stop . Regards Kay
