Great video. Question: does the black box have nudge, repeat/ stutter and swing? Your opinion on workflows between the blackbox or lo-fi 12xt.
@Jay_Maculate
@Jay_Maculate 7 күн бұрын
hey! great questions. Blackbox does have nudge controls for recording and moving steps off grid. there is also a swing setting which affects all notes in your sequence. I don't think there is a stutter/repeat control, although you could get that kind of effect by setting a tight loop point on a sample which would sound like a roll. The BB has an interesting workflow - you have lots of controls over sample playback (loop mode, modulating parameters, envelope) and the waveform display is superb. But i think it was designed as more of a clip launcher/looper that you can record perfectly sync'd loops into. And the sequencer is not great - you'll probably end up fighting the touchscreen a lot to make changes you want. I think the lofi12XT has a better workflow because of all the dedicated hardware buttons that give you the ability to edit notes and make changes to parameters. Plus playing the pads is way more fun that the BB's touchscreen piano. But with the lofi, you're stuck with a tiny display, mono samples in 24 or 12Khz, no more than 15 slices per sample, little stuff like that. Just my opinion though!

So there is something different between us… I have an MPC 1000 I built from parts (even built in a battery)…. It’s black with a blue LCD screen (Black and Blue, schools colors for the school of hard knocks). I use a Texture Lab as a pad synth, and a QY70 for rare instruments and… “seasoning.” I asked that they allow us to pick the key and tempo of samples in the onboard database. Function and arrow left of CFG and right of RVB respectively. The key is selected on the “keyboard” and the A knob selects from min, maj, 7, 9, 11, etc. The tempo is selected using the value knob.

And then you probably have to enable something on the op1 to accept the clock signal, but i dont have one to test it. @Jay_Maculate
@Jay_Maculate 28 күн бұрын
@simonlaverbeats it sounds like a feedback loop, as though both devices are listening to each other and outputting each others audio from their inputs. The lofi12xt doesnt have controls for its usb audio out, it will always just output its audio through the usb connection. Maybe theres a setting on the op1 for muting the digital input. Or worst case scenario, you could try syncing them through the 5 pin midi port or the sync jack on the front of the lofi12xt
