Honestly when South Carolina can legally grow, I’ll be looking to outfit an indoor green house with 7 gallon or bigger Octopots. Smaller amounts allowed just means growing trees instead of plants with the Octopot.

so what holds the sleeve and wick in the reservoir? and how hard is it to remove to move it to say dif room ie from veg to flower room or do the bigger res?
@Octopot
@Octopot 4 жыл бұрын
The wick locks into the reservoir and also holds the sleeve in place. The soil should be packed in tightly enough to hold the fabric upright. A lot of people start in the 3 gallon water reservoir for veg and the sleeve/wick is easily moved into another room where they have a 6 gallon reservoir ready for flower.

so what holds the sleeve and wick onto the reservoir so it doesn't fall over?
@Octopot
@Octopot 4 жыл бұрын
The wick locks into the bottom of the water reservoir and the sleeve is also held in place by the wick. Making sure your soil is packed tightly enough to hold the fabric upright is important.

are there any other differences between the 3 and 6 gallon octopots other then the actual reservoir? ie sleeve and the wicking thing etc are the same?
@Octopot
@Octopot 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the sleeve and wick are compatible with both bases. We are currently working on a prototype sleeve that holds 3 gallons of soil rather than 6.

We do not suggest using hydroton clay pebbles, it is best to use a peat and coco blend with perlite and organic amendments.

Octopots are designed with a wicking system that allows the roots to hybridize, creating a dual root zone and are the first product on the market to utilize this science. Auto pots are simply gravity fed and a different product all together.

Can you use supper soil in the bottom of the pot and put coco mix on top so you you dont have to use any nutrents like kindsoil.com
@Octopot
@Octopot 4 жыл бұрын
The problem with super soils and Octopots is the fact that it's a closed ecosystem, the super soils tend to burn the plants with excess nutrients. It would be a matter of ratio- so final mix has to be 40% perlite and the other 60% would be a calculated mix depending on the super soil, maybe 50/50. It should be thoroughly mixed, not layered, as well.

Id love to know how much ph drift you get over a few days or a full week and how you control it.
@Octopot
@Octopot 4 жыл бұрын
There can be quite a bit of drift but there's not much controlling it. As long as the level is in the 6.1-6.3 range it will all be okay. As the pH switches through different ranges, different nutrients become more available so it is actually a benefit.

I think I'm going to be buying one or two of those. What video do you talk about a perfect medium for it? I'm going with the twelve gallon I think? Ty for still making videos during these tough times. We appreciate it greatly. Good luck and stay safe out ty here.
@Octopot
@Octopot 4 жыл бұрын
We don't have one video in particular where we go in depth about soil but generally we advise a ratio of 40% perlite and 60% coco blend or soilless mix. Sunshine Mix #4 and FoxFarm Coco Loco have always been rated highly among OctoGrowers! The XXL grow sleeve is a great choice for larger plants! Thanks for watching the videos! We appreciate you!

Yes a peat and coco blend works very well throughout the whole grow, depending on the brand you may have to add amendments. Generally we say a blend with 40% perlite and 30% peat, 30%coco.
