Thanks for sharing your ( container ) garden and indeed it gives me the inspiration to keep going with my garden. Mine is 7b, so hot last few weeks and all flowers - in pots - look so pathetic. I thought it was just me because a lot of times what I see was somebody else's garden with all the colors, so green, so bright, so full , so ...intimidate !!! I've got some of what you got, salvia, gomphrena, red yucca, butterflies bush, zinnia , ... It's hot but it's not gonna be hot forever , hope that all the delicate flowers will survive and grow strong together . There's one plant that you have at 7:07 and again at 20:9, what's the name of it ? I loved it and tried to get the name - gar ? - but I'm not so sure . Thanks.

It’s gaura, the white sort of butterfly-looking flowers. It’s perennial for me and I see bees on it all the time. Thanks so much for watching!! Sounds like you have some beautiful plants as well!

I had 4 sunflower "volunteers" pop up in an unused pot (must've been from birdseed I spread around earlier). I babied them for weeks, only to find out the hard way that squirrels love to behead them! I have 1 left and I am taking no chances with it! I bring it in at night and I have it where I can see it from my kitchen window. Next year, I will be more purposeful and careful when I plant them!

@@summerofstacey6676 Good strategy! I'll keep it in mind for next year! I've never grown sunflowers before, but watching these babies grow in a pot that is probably way too small, yet still become beautiful giants makes me want to try again next year. Also, just wanted to say I love your garden and am impressed by how many plants you have and that almost all are in great shape! You really know your stuff!

@@summerofstacey6676 I only just started doing that recently and it seems fine. However, it is fully grown so I don't know what would happen if I did it when it was still growing. It's not too hot here in Southern California right now, so there isn't too much of a temperature variation between inside and outside.

Beautiful looking containers of flowers, they are the bees knees. We have a small front garden with three flowerbeds, fifty two containers of perennials and six containers of annuals on the front windowsills. My wife has no interest in gardening and tells me it looks like a mini garden centre. I water the containers and flowerbeds with a watering can and feed the containers with tomato food once a week. I mulch the flowerbeds and add two handfuls of fish blood and bone every March and they don't get anything more until the following March.

What do you do in the Winter with the container garden?
@summerofstacey6676
@summerofstacey6676 2 ай бұрын
I bring the sanseveria and elephant bush inside…the rest is left outside. Depending on how severe the winter is, I’ve had verbena and petunias come back some years. Perennials like gaura, hydrangea and salvias will come back…annuals I replace every year 🪴

@summerofstacey6676 so sorry to hear about your injury! I'm trying to turn myself into a runner (as someone who has always hated running) so I'm researching all the ways to do that. "Go slow to run fast" (or at least not want to die) seems to be a common theme and the MAF method seems promising.

Your garden is great. Ive been trying to grow poppies for years. They are a cool weather plant [I am southeast of you in zone 8b] They do better for me when I plant them in late fall (after Thanksgiving) through February. The struggle is real!. I heard that Shirley poppies do better in the hot, humid weather I have. And that seems to be the case. California poppies do okay but no matter what - i plant thousands of seeds for a small result. I love poppies though so i will keep trying Good luck!

It’s from gardener’s supply. I put it together myself. Those carrots were in the raised bed 82 days. The package said 65 days, but when I checked at that point they weren’t ready. I sowed the carrot seeds on March 8. They were fine through snowmaggedon 😋
