Why take the strong back off while the panel is still in the air? Seemed like a waste of precious crane time.

Interesting, but it takes away one of concrete's big advantages - the thick and essentially indestructible slab is going to be a whole lot weaker with a split down the middle - while keeping its big disadvantage - the extremely unforgiving surface. For residential use, I'd really like to see if anyone is pouring a structural concrete tilt-panel sandwiched between outer layers of cement-based insulation such as foamcrete or perlcrete.

We're expanding the facility by 100,000 sqft. All panels (20+) on the western wall are coming down eventually.

@@BobMooreConstruction Was the interior structural steel joist removed and did you provide any type of temporary bracing for the other panels? If so, how?
@MitzvosGolem14 жыл бұрын
As a crane operator I am always concerned panels may crack in center and toggle out flipping rig or come back at me in seat. Was common in old days. I used link belt friction rigs 100 ton smaller close to load.

How effective would this work for domestic dwellings
@ArtemusPrime854 жыл бұрын
So you would run into issues with lack of slab space to cast the panels and time you can't do anything on the area (interior buildout) it'd be hard to do but not impossible. Just saw this video and with this concrete mix you probably could produce all the panels pretty efficiently kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHuTqX2ErJaBn68

what brand/model of ground release shackles are used for lifting? Also how does the connection between the tilt-up panels aand the foundation work so that it can be secured so quickly?
@elbob2484 жыл бұрын
The brand is most likely Dayton. The panels are held up by pipe braces that are bolted to the slab and the panel. They are threaded and adjustable to bring the panel into plumb. The braces stay in place until the columns and roof trusses are all welded together. As well, there are generally weld plates cast into the slab on all four sides so that they can be welded to corresponding plates on the footing and the adjacent panel. The plates into the top of the panel have the ends of the trusses welded to them. When all of that is secure, the braces come down.

what type/brand of ground release shackles are being used here?
@billerubin42404 жыл бұрын
They removed the strongback while the panel was not vertical or set , good way to have the panel break . wait till it is set in position, you made it this time, next time maybe not so lucky.
@richardstone64643 жыл бұрын
Good point and you should not rely on luck.
@RYNUS-vc9cw Жыл бұрын
What they did was fine, they would have put extra steel in the edges plus all the lifters are layed out on the heaviest part of the panel at the top, strongbacks are mainly required for the ground reaction tilt to stop it from folding.

How many hours/days does it take to cure?
@gramkrackermikeboss95936 жыл бұрын
Mandela Gates it varies depending on the mud mixture.
@randyhall39045 жыл бұрын
Also, temperature greatly affects set and cure times. If poured during excessive heat, your set times can be as low as 2 hours (too fast). This will decrease the overall strength of the concrete. Some guys use ice, cool water, or liquid nitrogen to keep things cool and slow down the set times on hot days. Optimal temp for a pour is around 70˚F.

What is the difference between a regular tiltwall panel and an insulated tiltwall panel? This video explains what an insulated tiltwall panel is and how it is created for use in a temperature controlled tilt-up construction building.

General Contractor Videos Hello there, Bricks are also good insulators, then why isn't concret? And are the insulated tilt Blocks better than bricks, which would be cheaper? Thanks!
