I was 7 years old in 1970 and had major brain surgery in June of this year. Today in May 2024 i am 61 years old and i remember many of the shows on this video. We had great TV in the 1970s even though we only had 3 channels Television was so much better and the quality of the programmes back then better than the rubbish we endure today.

Oh my goodness. I've got tears in my eyes. I get sick of people who never lived through the seventies saying it was rubbish. I loved it

No ADHD, no mobile phones, no internet, no gender fluidity or transgender. No LGBTQ, no Macdonalds, Burger King or Kentucy Fried Chicken. No reality TV, no Simon Cowell or Ant & Dec. No Katie Price, or Love Island, Big Brother, Britains Got Talent, or other crap TV. Only three TV channels which ended late at night and started in the morning. No DVDs, VHS, CDS, streaming or earbuds. No CCTV on every corner. No cannabis farms in every street. No mobility carts or electric bikes and scooters. Respect was given to the emergency services, teachers, parents and people in authority. Discipline was harsher, but you knew if you'd crossed the line, you made sure you didn't do it again! Playing out until dark, pop bottles you got money back for returning them. Ring pulls and tab ends in the gutters, white dog poo! No vapes! No cash machines. Banks and shops on the high street. No out of town shopping centres. No B&Q or Wickes. No supermarkets. Proper newspapers, doorstep milk, proper butter, then Margerine. No pubs or shops open on a Sunday. Half day closing, usually on a Wednesday afternoon. NME, Sounds, comics that weren't PC. Proper seasons. Washing cars on a Sunday, quiet streets with space you could play in. One car families, if you were lucky. Proper gardens, not paved, gravelled or tarmacadamed over to fit three or four cars in. No UPVC double glazing. Condensation on the windows or ice in the winter. The smell of gloss paint or creosote in the summer. No designer this or that. Dr Marten boots, wedge shoes or brogues. No trainers, joggers or Crocs. I could go on, but you get the drift.

Where has all the time gone. i was young then [born 1958], now I'm an old man. When I see clips from old TV shows or ads from the 70s or 80s featuring little kids, I feel sad, they will also be aging now and some may have grandchildren older now than they were then [not including myself, I'm still single, the only way I could have a family now is in the unlikely circumstance that I meet and marry a widow who has children and grandchildren]..

I think we should all admit how easy it is to look at 50 years ago with rose-colored glasses. I had fun growing up in the 1960s and becoming a teenager and young adult in the 1970s. But today’s kids are having fun and will be nostalgic too. I don’t discount anyone’s life experience as less than mine.

Wow… i was born ‘68 so was very much a youngster through the 70s… but I remember all these clips. Funny thing is we only had a black n white TV and i never realised (such is the power of imagination) that such things existed in colour… actually it wasn’t until the the late 20s when i bought a dvd of bagpus that i discovered to my horror that bagpus was pink! I always assumed it was a ginger cat 😮

The Gemini Man. The Invisible Man. The Fantastic Journey. Planet of the apes. Tarzan. (Utterly horrid) Daktari. Barbapapa. Pebble Mill at One. TV for Schools and Colleges.

The Tomorrow People was my favourite followed by The Professionals which jumped into both decades. Neither are listed here sadly. I so wanted to teleport back then, and think that show was so ahead of its time as was Doctor Who's equivalent as they were both on different channels then.

Yeah, those were the Days.:-) In 1973 I emigrated with my Mother from Germany to Canada,Edmonton,Alberta. I was 6 Years old, went to School, learned english, had a Cat, and I think the Best Years of my Life. Sadly we only staid in Canada till, I cant recall which Month, but 1979. I grew uo with many of these TV shows like; "Hawaii 5"O", "The Six Million Dollar Man", "The Bionic Woman", "Batman","Kojak","Star Trek""Black Beauty", "THe Waltons""Happy Days" and many others and Songs like "Summer Nights" from John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. Spmetimes it bugs me that you can"t turn back Time. Anyway thanks for uploading some memorable Moments and walking down Memory-Lane. Now I have many of those Shows on DVD and go back in time by watching these Shows.
