This movie is a true piece of art. The way things happen so unexpectedly and how in the end it’s just one big shit show. Love it.

Kudos to Soderbergh for also doing the cinematography under a pseudonym. Good cinematography really makes or breaks the artwork known as movies and he gave his editor plenty to work with on this film. Its style reminds me very much of another great work he did; "Out of Sight".

Clooney was playing himself in this. What a moron.

I know the real Chad Feldheimer. My friend is exactly like him. His mannerisms, the way he doesn't this shit through, the way he moves and does that stupid fist pump...and that stupid little dance he does before they make the call to Osborn Cox the first time. My jaw kept dropping when I saw him on the screen...it still does.

What it’s about? It’s just a dark comedy, meant to be enjoyed while stereotypical “successful”Americans get lampooned. It’s light satire, empty calories. To be consumed in moderate quantities. Personally, even tho I really like this movie, I can rarely watch it past the hors d’oeuvres exchange between Clooney and Malkovitch. It’s so cringey, yet hilarious! “I have anaphylactic reflux” “You’re allergic or you have acid reflux? They’re different things.” … “If u ask him he’ll show you his BiG gUn.” “İ’ve never had to fire it in the line of duty.” “That sounds like something you should tell your psychiatrist…” “I don’t HAVE a psychiatrist.” Gold 😂

This movie is the ultimate "Shaggy Dog Joke" where a joke goes on for way too long, only to have a stupid punchline that isn't even really funny. The difference is, ifor this movie, its done so we'll, that the the fact that the punchline isn't really that funny is the funniest part of the whole thing. I loved this movie when I saw it thought it was hilarious. Later I showed it a friend, but he thought it was the stupidest movie..until the last scene...when J.K. Simmons delivers his final lines, my friend wookie laughed for like 20 minutes.

I'm not certain why the film would be confusing. Humans are destructively dumb is a message that needs to be shared. Maybe it's like the Brothers Karamazov. We go into the story hoping that the lesson isn't the obvious one...and then, when the poor choices and selfish stupidity reaps the inevitable clusterF...we react with disapproving confusion.

Book Burn After Reading: The Espionage History of World War II by Ladislas Farago. Sounds like Coen movie Fargo. If you thin all secret services, CIA, KGB, Mossad, MI6, Gestapo, Freemasons, terrorist's etc etc. Played the same secret game, and that is where paranoia, conspiracy, French Translation of “AGENT PROVOCATEUR”, created by "grey cardinal" himself Richelieu, espionage etc. etc. happens. We don't know full story people see only very small fragments and secret services see only very small fragments of their adversaries ironically most secret organization was Werner Von Braun NASA. Which also started as Gestapo secret service superweapon project. Brad Pitt played by away airhead - the only truly happy person.

THANK YOU! I watched this in theaters and was thinking "This is so terrible" and that last line by JK SImmons made me laugh so hard because thats exactly how I felt. When I told people about the movie I basically said it was terrible. The end gives the most hilarious line but you have to sit through the terrible movie to appreciate that line.

I knew this movie was genius, I just couldn’t quite articulate why, but you nailed it, this was a hilariously dark comedy of errors, and the last lines in the film cap it off so perfectly.

Well at the end the Government doesn't want the stupid FBI involved bumbling things up either and most FBI likely assume themselves intelligent and others do too because then people would wonder why stupid people are given positions of authority by other stupid people but it likely happens regularly and stupid people resent intelligent people to maintain their false sense of superiority. Lots of midlife crisis in the film though. Sometimes people just have a long fuse and the older they get the shorter the fuse.
