So talented but that tempo is too fast to build the rage of the song properly

When I saw this on Broadway with several HS students, I was an emotional mess by the end of the show... in tears. The student sitting beside me looked at me and said, "You really liked this show, didn't you, Mr. B?" I responded, "Yes, I did, I really did." She had no idea. :) :) :)

The tempo suited the production really well. There was a very real, palpable sense of danger in their fight. It's hard to tell in just an isolated clip, but it was just perfect. Emily Skinner is such a force of nature!

I was the goalie. They were my girls. They were actually very small ladies. I would have liked to have that part.

This gentleman was my Major Dramatists professor in the mid 1990s, and he was a phenomenal and kind-hearted teacher. That class was memorable. Never had such an accomplished, yet humble, and engaged teacher who enjoyed listening to his students and giving feedback to them. He took a lot of time writing encouraging and thoughtful comments on our papers. That goes a long way. Happy to see him many years later still helping young people with the process of learning. A big thank you to him.

It’s really an unfortunate performance. First, the tempo was too fast but she did rush it as well. Second, the acting of the piece needs to be more conversational and the anger should not come to the surface until 3/4 through. Her pacing as an actress was one note - anger. Sarcasm and razor wit are built into the fabric of the song and she mostly ignored both. Unfortunate.

I loved watching him in the all those all too few law & order episodes, though it was a shame that social attitudes hadn’t evolved by then where he could do openly gay roles. But playing a thug like Roy Cohn, who with McCarthy and those other HUAC fascists-and informers like Kazan and Dymytrk-who destroyed dozens if not hundreds of careers pays homage to a political terrorist.

Loved the original, but this is awful. This looks like a play with a lot of actions. The original was a play full of brilliant reactions. That must be the difference.

Dottie, I'm so glad you mentioned the black mutton chops and long, black, curly hair on top of the solid guy in the Modrian sweater. Glenn Dunn and I were the stage managers at the Rep the year Steve arrived, and I think it became immediately apparent that we had a deep support in the offices. He was so loyal and strong and I loved him dearly. I was sorry there were no pictures of Steve in those early years, because to me he will always be the guy with the mop of black curly hair who had my back.
