This was a couple years ago, but the set has definitely not appreciated as well as you’d hope from a value perspective because of the ban of Jeweled Lotus

@ I bought a box last year during Black Friday, I think it was $140 after tax. My first pack had a Vamp Tutor, and then I got nothing after that. I think it had like 1-2 other Mythics, it was bad dude! I couldn’t believe it haha

Forgive my ignorance, never played magic before. I just checked best buy and the booster box that bring 36 packs is cheaper than the collector box that brings 12 ? Why is that ?

I really like the set so far except for the movie poster chase cards, it's not my personal favorite type of horror flair and I find the art for MHM straight up a bad and boring illustration. Anyway, good set except for what I just ranted about.

Honestly, I wouldn’t blame you, so far. These are just a handful of spoilers and the rest could suck. Some of these reprints will be much cheaper so you’ll be able to snag the singles you want without having to overspend.

Yes, Avacyn Restored was on Innistrad. It was back in the better days of Magic when we had main expansion Innistrad, then two expansions Dark Ascension and Avacyn Restored all set in the same story arch. I miss those days of Magic when the lore and story mattered.

Unfortunately for Snarling Gorehound, its surveil you get from fungi tokens won't create new fungi tokens because, you know, they have already been created this turn. Of course, it will trigger from all other stuff you have, but it's not that explosive. I suggest trying Glimmer Bairn as another very budget free sacrifice outlet. Really great card that easily combos with Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord in this deck

So after playing my build the other day I feel like Tasha's hideous laughter is better than cacophony. I also like a few guttersnipe like effects in the deck the damage really adds up.

Extra turn spells and Relentless Assault will work here too. Only thing if you copy Relentless Assault, there is only one untap of creatures when all the copies resolve. Being that you only need to get Storm through for damage to get the ability, and Storm has vigilance, that should not be a big issue.

From a pure odds standpoint, you're more likely to get it in Collector Boosters because there's usually 1-2 SPG per Collector Box. I believe for Play Boosters they appear 1:48 packs or something, meaning every 2 boxes on average will have one, though that can vary.

The 20 ways to win is also including the traditional win cons, commander damage, drawing with no library, losing life. So, there's going to be 17 alternate wincons according to this.

Very cool, had not seen this news, yet. I'm excited! :) I wonder how the 4th SL deck did - that one was the worst imho. It did have a lot of cool double sided cards and I bought it to pad out my collection - but the deck did not function very well. It's the only one I took apart! My guess for an included card - Revel in Riches. If the deck is 5-colored, the treasures makes a lot of sense. I do also agree with Aetherflux Reservoir and Angel of Destiny, as they both need lifelink.

I disagree with this deck not being able to be built budget friendly. You’re seeking a level of power that you want to come out of the deck and of course you’re not gonna get that level of power out of a more budget friendly alternative. However, storm carries enough power alone that the investment into the commander or just proxying her like I think everyone should. She can carry a deck for under $70 and still be just fine.

I see what you're saying, but Storm herself is $40, so you're talking about $30 to build an entire deck, you can't really have access to the Fetch Lands, or any of the premium mana base stuff that makes it run so much more consistently. I think in order to build this in a way that it can keep up with some more competitive stuff (at least in my group, where decks are more middle of the road (5-6) in terms of power level, you need to have at least some of it.

@ the critical part is if you include the commander in the budget. For me, I personally don’t but yes depends on your playgroup mostly on how you build it. $600 could be * budget * if everyone is running a **7** and man base can be fixed without all of the auto includes at a small loss of tempo. But I’m more focused on the fierce guardianship, and rhystic study, ect. Those all have spells that are close enough and could collectively save hundreds of dollars across this build.

A combo im looking forward to pulling off: Storm + Assault Probe + Slip through space + Tasha's Hideous Laughter (Post combat) for 5x storm count on only 5 mana. Exile from library until youve reached at least 20 mana. Times 6.
