Why when I add a dimension to new saved plan view it also shows up in the plan view that was copied from? Even though I followed yours and many others instructions creating a copy of an existing saved plan view and in the new saved plan view creating a copy of the layer set. Have had this problem in X14 and X15. Is there a video anywhere that can explain why this is happening and how to fix it? Until I can get this figured out the only way I can copy a saved plan and use it is to not copy a saved plan view but save my entire plan under a new file name and then use the saved plan - not very efficient. Thanks in advanced for any insight!

Very frustrating that schedule text size cannot be adjusted if using the 3D elevations. Seems like it'd be a simple fix, but tried many times, and tech support concurred it's not adjustable. Someone at CA should fix this. Had a very well-known kitchen consultant comment that it's unreadable; cabinet makers think it's a joke. No excuse that as long as CA been around that this has not been addressed.

I find Chief Architect interesting. But my constant question about this software is whether I can design an entire house with cement walls. Like it's been done in most European countries. Because you only showcase wooden frames houses, like in the video above.
@charlesberkley3460Ай бұрын
The software has flexibility to do concrete designs but you will have to do a lot of setup work, I have tried using it for concrete construction and found that it specialize in American home construction, thats why they alway show wooden framed designs. It does not have as extensive details for concrete a steel as it does for wooden structures, it can do light commercial projects as well but over all it seems to be focused on American residential design

@@charlesberkley3460 Thank you for the detailed reply. May I ask your opinion, since you use the software. Would you recommend it for designs with concrete walls? Or is it to complicate to do the set ups?
@despoina.markaki.28 күн бұрын
@@frankn2080 l thank you for the response. So, would you recommend it to a designer who designs building only with concrete walls?
@frankn208028 күн бұрын
@@despoina.markaki. Yes. You can fully customize the walls. They even have block and ICF walls setup in the standard template I think. It's a great program and has the lowest learning curve to produce plans quickly once you get the hang of it. I recommend downloading a free trial and checking out their free online training videos.

Is there a Chief Architect training video that could help me understand this better? I am really struggling with this material. I learn best by doing, and I have taken the beginner training, but I am hesitant to pay for the intermediate training offered by Chief Architect because I need to know if this topic is covered in the intermediate course. I previously paid another training organization $300 to teach me this, but it didn't go well, and I am very confused.

Cool video, learnt a lot. I've been trying to use Chief and I can't get around somethings like roof framing, foundations and walls. I live in South Africa and the way we build is totally different from the US ways. For instance our trusses which are 38 x 114mm sit on top of the wall Plate which (38 x 38mm) and then the purlins on top of the trusses. Whenever I get to do this I'm so confused as to what should I uncheck or check and so on. Do you guys think you can do a well detailed video on this subject to show what is what? I have a Revit background but ever since I saw Chief and the things it can do, I'm seriously thinking of jumping ship. Also down here in South Africa we don't do floor framing at least we use to but it's extinct and now it's all concrete and I'm wondering if you guys have a video where a second floor is a concrete slab and not wood.

Good afternoon from Portugal, Finally I had the pleasure to know the person behind the tutorials that I watch since some months ago. I am a Cad Designer with 27 years of experience and always working with AutoCAD and sometimes with Revit, for home design and interior design. I am tired to work with AutoCAD and I am planning to change for a more accurate software capable to do everything, in my opinion Chief it’s a great deal, I think better then Revit. I am very happy with the quality that I have seen in the Chief Tutorials, in special your own videos. Thank you so much for the availability and your good technical skills. They are a great school for me. Thanks and regards from Portugal! All the best!
