I recently picked up Volume 1 in digital which has issues 1-15 and 1-4 of the magazine "Dracula Lives". It's fairly cheap to get but I wanted to read something spooky for October in the manner only Marvel can deliver.

I need to make this short and get to bed :) First, loved the info / comparisons you provided in this video. Thank you! I read some of my first graphic novels around 2012, but I've only dabbled in them / comics / manga ever since. I'm recently getting into superhero comics, and I like the looks of the Fantastic Four more than many of the other superhero "groups." I think I like the apparent simplicity and "closeness" of their group. Anyway, I read in the comments that folks are looking for Simonson's run -- look for the recent Epic Collection volumes Into the Time Stream and The New Fantastic Four. As for Waid's and Wieringo's run, those seem harder to find these days (2024)! I think I'll pick up Byrne's and see how I like it since it's in print again.

Kris (Krisis) I am from Mexico and first met You in a "live" with Mr. Uncanny Omar. Of course I start with Mr Omar and then I start to follow Mr Kurtis, and now I start to look at your material. I know it is from 2 years algo, but listening to you sounds si fresh. Omar is the salesman, he knows how to tell us to buy the books, Kurtis has the knowledge on how mapping the books (I am nota saying that Omar or you doesn't know, but he looks like the talented to explain that), and finally You. You are the fan with that big smile that has read a lot and knows the business, but You do it in a friendly and understandable way that really likes me a lot. I love your comment from the Essentials, when I first met them, it was toward the end, so I wasn't able to get many of those books and of course My most wanted books today are the EPICS. Finally, I love your comment of Jess/Spider-Woman about her Back. You make me laugh a lot. I do not have the Essentials, neither the Master Works but I got a Panini Edition from Spain where that comic is included. Thank You for the video Regards.

_Strolling in here 2 and a half years later, lol..._ (just commenting for algorithm grease). This was the first omni I bought from CGN (I had gotten 3 other omnibus books from other places right before: Absolute Carnage, Spider-Gwen, and a Punisher one). It's one of my rare regrets in purchasing an omni. I bought a copy with the DM dustjacket. I didn't read the series back when it was new, but I remember seeing ads for it and the Standard cover IS what I think of when I think of the event. It bothers me so much for some dumb reason, I've kept an eye out for it in case it ever comes back in stock. I guess, thankfully, it's been pretty much out of stock lately whenever I look, lol. I really wish they'd work on the order they map these books, too. I'm the guy with tons of sticky tabs sticking out of my event books. My King and Black and War of the Realms books have so many that I ran out of space on the side and also have a row on top, too! I guess I can get the idea behind putting the event first and the tie-ins, which may not even be good, in the back. It's just that I think the people who would spend the money on an omni are probably the same people who would want to read the entire thing, tie-ins and all, in order.
@PeterMarinari
@PeterMarinari 9 ай бұрын
I think Marvel is doomed no matter what they do when it comes to reading orders in these event books. The most hard-core fans would love everything in perfect order interspersed with the main event series, but I think slightly more casual readers (including many big collectors) would be annoyed by that. I really think a best case scenario is putting the full event up front (since that's how everyone read it while it was released, anyway), then having everything in perfect order behind with with single pages of the main event issue covers to act as dividers to let you know when they are placed, if you want to flip back to the front of the book to read them.
@chinohormann
@chinohormann 9 ай бұрын
@@PeterMarinari I guess I was being a bit nitpicky. I just figured that the people most likely to buy these books were the "hardcore fans" who actually liked to read them, but I suppose collectors make up a large pool, too. Your "best case scenario" would certainly be a huge improvement, I'd reckon. It'd save me a LOT of time tabbing sections off in an event book, at least. I don't think I'd even bother with the tabs if they were laid out like how you proposed.

How old is Diana prince jn golden age? Centuries ?
@PeterMarinari
@PeterMarinari 9 ай бұрын
That's an interesting question! I'm not really up on my DC lore at this depth, but there is certainly a suggestion that Diana's "youth" may not have happened in real time compared to the outside world. Even if you ignore her modern origin as a half-god, it's obvious that all of the Amazon's have lived for centuries if not longer. So, even if Diana is meant to be a relatively young woman in Amazon culture, she could still be decades or centuries old in actual years.

I was a wee bit disappointed when I originally finished "Secret Wars". Here was a being so powerful that he ripped apart a solar system to put together his Battleworld and he knocked Galactus out with a single blast from his ship, but we nevet see him! I *needed* the sequel because I knew that he personally came to Earth and fought with nearly everyone and I had to see what happened! Then, back in 2021, I actually got this behemoth of an Omnibus for only $100 on Amazon (of all places)! I'm guessing the seller had no idea what they had. They rated its' condition as "Acceptable", so I was expecting the worst. I was just hoping that I could read every page. (Stains and wrinkles be damned!) However, when it showed up, it had the dust jacket and should've been rated as, at the very least, "Very Good"! I have to type that I, personally, think that this is one of the funniest stories I've ever read! I loved every moment with The Beyonder. The goofy way he talked at first (Why is eating?"; "Why is clothing?"), was too funny! I also couldn't help but laugh whenever a hero figured out who they were talking to and just started punching him in the face! 😂 This guy was only curious about our Universe, but since he kidnapped a few heroes and villains so that he could study their behavior in a twisted contest, no hero on Earth trusted him. So his peaceful mission of discovery was ruined from the start. The ironing! Then there was Molecule Man. I for real fell in love with this character throughout the story. His absolute fear of The Beyonder was hilarious. Especially when he does what he did at the end! When his fear of this god made him do THAT, AS the heroes were debating on the ethics of it all, I burst into laughter so loud that The Wife had to find out what was so funny! I don't know why folks don't like it. It's an outrageous storyline with a crazy premise: "What if... God Was One of Us... and He Met Superheroes... Who Thought He Was Too Dangerous... So They Just Kept Punching Him in the Face?" 🤣 Have you read it yet? Didja have as good a time as I did?

Final Crisis almost broke me... and my fist, as I pounded it with each passing issue. I will say I'm glad for having read it in tandem with this book club because I do appreciate Morrison's big theme swings, but I know I would've quit this unwieldy tome of an omni halfway through if not for this book club. I also realize this is not an entry-level crisis event for fledgling DC readers. Ultimately I'm glad for having read it as I move back to Morrison's Bat Omni 2 and 3 and on to Snyder's run. Thanks to you three for sticking it out this long. I know this is the last discussion for you in the Morrison run, but I feel completely equipped to appreciate the rest of his run with my newfound Morrison education.
