3:30 Is when Daniel raises his eyebrow. Or when we all start hearing the undertone. Goosebumps.

This is such an anomaly of an undertone. The final chord notes being sung are C3-E3-G3-C4. The fundamentals of these notes belong to the C1 series, not the C2 series. The tasteful tone choice of the baritone, however, means the real strength is the C3-G3-C4 structure by the remaining parts, reinforcing the C2 series as the "brighter" more audible undertone. I bet for those four men on stage the strength of the C1 and C2 buzz were both present because of Mike's (the bari) exemplary third here. Love Main Street.

Pretty sure Roger's on the low 3rd and Mike goes from 5 up to the high tonic. That's for sure how they do it on the album recording

I just love watching this quartet perform. They are so effortless that you don't realize how much 'business' is going on in each song. This is just a master class in staging a song.

That is one heck of an undertone...is the final chord 1-3-5-1 or 1-5-1-3? I really can't tell with all the awesome harmonics going on here

Is that really an undertone? It just sounds to me like the bass slips into subharmonics... but I could be wrong.

Good bass notes from bass. Great baritone resonance from baritone. Beautiful countertenor falsetto from tenor. Amazing full tenor voice from lead. These guys sing this for Tony's Town Square home for Italian food. Bring back good old barbershop music with an Italian ping for the song from Lady and the Tramp. Benissimo!

Fantastic performance! What is that buzz I hear on the final note? Is that was an "undertone" feels like? The pitch feels lower than the bass note, so I suppose it's a trick my brain is playing on me because I'm hearing all the higher harmonics and have the illusion of that low pitch, right? Is it particularly difficult to achieve? Moreso than emphasizing a given overtone?
@b33p7 жыл бұрын
Hi. Nobody ever replied. Yes, juicy undertone.
@davidkrause39063 жыл бұрын
And in fact, that one is there, goes away as they change chords and then comes back just as strong!!! One of the strongest recorded undertones I've ever heard and there were a few more in the early part of the song!!!
@HymnLee3 жыл бұрын
@@SkragaRooRoo Apologies but Myron isn’t using any sub-harmonic singing there. Voices to be perfectly tuned like that go off unequal temperament, which is a fancy way of saying not the exact pitch. For example the fifth needs to be around 14 cents sharp, and the 3rd needs to be a tiny flat. Doing all that makes that “synth” like sound that happens at the end, as well as multiple times during the song. Resonance also matters, with all the 4 sings matching each others resonance as well as their vowel choices. Hell, we call it “undertones” but they aren’t even technically undertones but since we use the word overtones a lot, it’s easier to understand the concept if we say undertone.

I heard that the Bass was "under the weather" too!
