Yeah, you have to remove the "EDP" coating on all sheetmetal from any of the manufacturers. Everyone calls it "EDP" but I doubt they actually electronically deposit the primer like the big OEMs do. You can even buy EDP in a spray can, makes no sense. lol I don't trust anyone to do the proper prep on a panel before they primer it unless I see it myself, especially parts made overseas. Honestly, don't stress it, it's normal and always always always remove as much of the "EDP" coating as you can. Always. Looking great man!

Yes, there are some Minnesotans that eat hot stuff. Spicy peppered stuff; but, not many.
@ShopDog-Garage2 ай бұрын
Almost everyone we know eats spicy, the country has become a bit more blended than it was 40 years ago. Lots of ethnic and cultural foods are available now, we even get fresh fruit and veg year round (not sarcasm there, I remember when we did not!) The state has a very different makeup than it did in the 70's, and that includes a lot of spiced and flavorful foods. Potato Sausage is not the norm!

Are you talking about the lifts the cars are on? If so, the one in the west room makes it MUCH easier to work on the body, and the lifts in the East room are used for both storage (Impala and Catalina Wagon) and vehicle service. The black 68 is on the service lift we use for oil changes, brake jobs, and miscellaneous projects.

Where did you get the reproduction sweep? I have a 66 wagon as well, and I need the sweep for all 5 windows!
@kevinmackin97443 ай бұрын
Hey, Kevin here (Yellow shirt guy in the video!!) For the front and rear doors, we used Steele Rubber part number 70-1120-61, "Beltline Weatherstrip," and cut it to length with a Dremel tool and a cut-off wheel. In episode 15, at 2:37, you can see how the new weatherstrip needs to be cut for a factory-like fit. Unlike the front doors, where the window channel is straight, the rear doors required pie cutting and gentle bending to fit the window channel curve. This weatherstrip screws into the door frame. The front windows (and possibly the rear ones, it was a few years ago when we did this) had to be removed to access some screws for installation. We've been through several rainstorms with no leaks, so I'm pleased with the results. For the tailgate (episode 16, see 5:36, and all of episode 17), we used Steele Rubber part number 70-2817-120 Dense Window Beltline - 10ft on the outside of the window. This has an adhesive backing, needed to be cut to fit, and has held up well while looking factory. On the inside of the window, we also used Steele 70-1120-61 Beltline Weatherstrip. I just learned about a company via a Facebook group: Einstyn (einstyn.com/onlinestsore/tg-parts-page/). They stock a variety of wagon products. The section titled "Part 3" shows a complete kit, part number 3D, which might be an exact replacement for the tailgate rubber. I don't have any experience with them, but it's another resource for you. Good luck with your wagon! Feel free to reach out if you have other questions. Always happy to help!

If you can swing the RDX, you will get a lot more options. I have VHX series, HDX series and RDX in my cars, and cars I have built for others, and they are really nice to work with. The modular nature of their system makes it real easy for anyone to get more accurate displays!

@@ShopDog-Garage I was thinking the RTX at first because I LOVE the original looking style but I like the larger sweep of data on the HDX for fuel and oil and stuff. I am not using a console, so what do you think about the light bar style sweep on the RTX?
@ShopDog-Garage3 ай бұрын
@@adamscustomshop I have mixed feelings on the bar sweep. Without the console gauges, that does get a bit cluttered. The HDX we did in the orange 69 looked pretty sweet. The RTX in SweetPea is nice also, however, both used the console gauges. The gauges in my 67 and 68 are both older V series, and work nice!
@adamscustomshop3 ай бұрын
@@ShopDog-Garage So cool! lol. Yes, if I was going to use the console gauges I would go with the RTX. But, I have at least a year or so before I am ready for electrical on my car so maybe there will be a new one by then! lol Thanks for all the info and awesome videos as always!
