I know this is just a film but, this Psychiatrist saying that his father's death could "trigger" Bi-Polar Disorder or Schizophrenia is absolute bullshit, unless, of course, those conditions were already present to begin with, which, of course, is not made clear. It's annoying that film-makers throw these terms around which are harmful to people who genuinely suffer from these serious psychiatric disorders, adding another layer of unwanted stigma. They need to do better.

Back in 1984, I met a boy of 17 who was on the streets. He was a very casual acquaintance of a friend of mine in that city. Once when I was visiting, he was there and the two of us connected and a friendship started. It was rocky because of circumstances, but somehow, we both "clicked" a bit. This boy was abandoned at age 9 and left on his own in Southern California. Although his story sounded authentic, I had to keep reservations handy. Then, I happened to meet the parents. He wasn't kidding. One day after work during the winter season, I came home and there he was, sitting out front, depressed and beyond lonely. We ate something and then I took him in the van up in the mountains so we could be alone, unwind and to talk. I found a somewhat secluded spot and parked. For only a few minutes, we both just sat in the front seats and looked out at the city below, the typical So. Cal. scene you see in movies. Without a word, he got up and went back on the bed. I said nothing. Less than a minute later, I heard him softly crying. Few things hurt more than hearing a teenaged boy cry. A lump formed in my throat fast. I asked, "What's the matter buddy?" The response, about 90 seconds later, was, "How come the people who brought me into this world don't want me?" That was more than I expected to hear. Being partially dumped by my own parents, it hit home. What happened afterward is private, but that question of his was one for the books. He is one of only 2 men I've ever met that were miles ahead of being a man I've ever had the pleasure of being around. To say he was unusual would be an understatement. He was talented, bright, intuitive and a deep thinker. If he were my son, I would have thought I got the Brass Ring in a child. About 2 months later, he disappeared. I've looked for him, but nothing. To say he's burned in my memory would be an understatement. Even though we knew each other for about 3 months, he made an impact on me like only one other time. Kevin, if you're out there, there's at least one person out there who has high regards for you. Me.

The role Ernie Hudson portrayed has great principles and I understand completely but I would have taken that 💰 just by being exploited by that liar/ friend or whatever his name is. This is a great 🎬 💯

Being homeless in these streets isn't a laughing matter not at all enduring all types of BS dealing with people who wasn't homeless who thought they were better making themselves feel better putting others down, until you let them know they are NOT better than anybody 😮

I did some research and found that "there is substantial evidence that schizophrenia has a significant genetic component and can be considered partially inherited, as studies, particularly those involving twins, show a higher risk of developing schizophrenia if a close family member has the condition, indicating a genetic predisposition to the disorder; however, it's important to note that genetics are not the sole factor, and environmental influences also play a role". (NHS UK). However, from the available literature "there is no definitive evidence to support the proposal that CSA is a major risk or causal factor for the later development of schizophrenia or psychotic illnesses, as study findings are inconsistent and there is an absence of studies with the power and design to prove such a link. There is discussion as to whether it may alter the presentation of schizophrenia or psychotic illness in terms of content, prognosis or treatment". (National Library of Medicine).

It's New Year's Eve and this was the confirmation I wanted and needed as I embark on my next adventure to thrive in '25! Excellent character development, storyline and cinematography. Such a heartwarming story based in Hollywood without a car crash or explosion and just a touch of romance. It was so inspiring to see people make the necessary changes in their lives to progress to their highest potential. Thanks for posting. Happy New Year and Happy New Me!

I was in a situation like this, not too long ago "Few Years ago". Much alike, but when he went MANIC he really went MANIC. Thinking he would go out in the middle of the night to be a Hero, Knives, Camo Dressed, Face Covered. Then the DRUG part came and found he Passed Away in my Bed. Trauma, is not only a word. BUT can either HURT You, Your Family and or your own State of MIND.
