I have three questions. Do the bus wires just go in the middle of the layout as you illustrated in the video or do they follow wherever the track goes underneath? Are terminal strips needed to wire a dcc layout and if so, how do I use them? And when I’m connecting my feeders to the bus wire, do I just strip away the part of the bus wire where I’m going to solder it to?

It can be in the middle or follow a track diagram, it depends on the layout shape. Try to avoid any screw terminal strips, need to solder everything.

Hi Maestro Круто, теперь мы увидели его внутри. Чему-то я у тебя научился, но мне нравится делать иначе, развив идею кабель менеджмента. Я использую жёсткий провод, изгибая его и фиксируя на корпусе. А для отдельных деталей использую коннекторы (это уже немецкая школа), дабы можно было по-человечески полностью разобрать локомотив. Это сложнее, но гораздо эстетичнее. С наступающим.

I have a diorama with two independent tracks, which are not connected by a turnout track. In this case, it would basically be your illustration in the video without the turnout track, would that also work? I mean, can I connect each red wire from each track and each black wire from each track, being them from track circuits without connections between each other and then connect the 2 final wires (4 interconnected wires) to the DCC? To have a DCC power supply for two different track circuits... remembering that it is a small diorama for displaying locomotives.

You can do it, becase bought of your diorama loops are optically insulated.

ESU is using its own Powerpack. Walthers locomotives are not equipped with Power packs.

Hi Glad I found your tutorial. I've just got one of these decoder testers but I'm already stuck. I don't have a Lokprogrammer but I've downloaded the software. I presume I just connect the decoder tester to the programming track output of my controller? Hopefully you can point me in the right direction. Many thanks, David

Hi David! What is the manufacturer of your controller and decoder? The Lokprogramer software only works with ESU Lokprogrammer.

I am using an ESU decoder. I'm using it with Hornby Railmaster. The Railmaster software will read the decoder but when I try to use the Lokprogrammer software, as you did, it can't find it.

Hello . I have one of these factory sound E8' gems and it still works fine ,but really need to upgrade the sound after hearing the ESU and having a TSU2 along with the latest Econami steam version .It is tough being a firm believer in the old saying here if it is not broke don't fix it .Been doing many dcc installs since the old MRC COMMAND 2000 came out .After that I was hooked .Appreciate your videos .Great for the hobby and great information .Thank you sir!

I was surprised to see that feature in the Econami steAm by Soundtraxx i installed in a Rivarossi Challenger Just to see if possible with my own layout design with current keeper only in tender the rest in locomotive .Figured that is where the fuel goes .That overcame the poor Rivarossi electrical pickup way. LOL!

To be honest, I used it a few times and it was fine, build quality was good, not great, features were good, but it’s kind of big if you like that. After a week or so, I went back to my Roco system. I have had quite a few command and control units, but I always come back to the Roco system for ease of use and more visually appealing. Hope this helps. The TCS controller is still sitting in its box in my basement.
