My mates dad was a tonn-up lad in the 1950s. I always remember him telling bikers are invisible to car drivers as all they see is a gap, and not the biker on his ride. Now into this mix mobile phones, satnavs and cannabis and many more motor vehicles than when i started riding in 1970. But luv your info on being seen sir.

It's easier for the police to do that than investigate and catch burglars or other criminals.
@RD-ht6go3 ай бұрын
If you want them to catch burglars and criminals, they need a higher budget. And that means more tax. And you don't like that. Serves you right.

If it doesn't stop them leaning into the opposite lane at the apex of righthanders then the impact may not be as much as expected. Helmet crossing the bonnet is an A82(T) speciality.

You need to make this broadcast more interesting and more motorcycle dynamic. I skipped through it hoping to find something I could relate to. Would comment on the presentation but I'm sure he's actually a nice guy.

Every rider should have sirens like the police bikers to keep safe. And UK bikers should stay to the far left when in stopping in que's because of the driver's A pillar blocking their view. Vechile manufacterers have a duty to play to design their A pillars more slim again for bike safety. Swaying from side to side approaching a t junction is best.

Huge fan of E-skateboards and scooters but these are not safe devices to someone of less than 80IQ and this is massive problem Should be legalised and idiots punished, not everyone

Escooters shud be made legal, the amount of people out in cars with only 1 person driving around is ridiculous, if all those people had Escooters. There would be next to Zero cars on the road!!!

How annoying that my comment here advocating a need to consider headlights / running light and indeed brake light intensity glare issues has somehow been deleted.

I could continue ripping the whole presentation apart slide by slide point by point as it's all total and deliberate either outright lying, misinterpration, misguided view of what roads are actually for, or overstated and over-relied upon statistics presented using emotive words which is just plain wrong. Let's put this into perspective every adult living today grew up with 30mph speed limits. We're not dead, scared, or dying from medical conditions directly due to the speed limit being 30mph and not some other arbritrary value. The presenter himself has obviously managed to survive the streets at these speeds as well!
@avulonanderson23723 жыл бұрын
30mph limit was set based on stopping distances of vehicles at the time. Those stopping distances are much improved in modern vehicles! 'Streets are for life, not just for motors' Streets are for efficient transportation, slowing things down does not make them efficient. 'In urban areas, a 30mph peak speed doesnt' reduce overall journey time significantly' ? Who is to say what is significant? 70,000 casualties? That's the total injuries both KSI and minor (i.e. including every scratched knee and slight bruise). However that's a lot lot more than on the motorway network, what does that tell you?
@avulonanderson23723 жыл бұрын
Field of vision changes with speed being travelled? No, speed of travel does not affect the operation of a person's eyes. Activity levels are not directly linked to speed of traffic on the roads. The roads are arguably not the best place to excersise, you know there's these places called parks, and the countryside and Gyms and swimming pools and other sporting facilities. Promote healthy active travel options? OK - I've got a 400 mile round trip are you seriously suggesting that I cycle???. 'Reduce inequalities' <snort>. Lower emissions/Lower noise? - Well, no it won't. drivers will be forced to drive in lower gears at the same engine rpm as they were at 30mph, only for twice as long !! Less congestion? Quite the opposite - slower traffic means more congestion. 'place making' ???????

TRL is so independent that one of it's directors has a vested interest in an electric motor company called Yasa. No bias to see here.

I believe that e scooters have a motor? So you would need a licence & Insurance & be at least 17, and would need to wear a helmet, as motorcyclist do.
@scorpa1063 жыл бұрын
But some are restricted to 15mph
@SSSLIMITED13 жыл бұрын
@@scorpa106 But they still have motor, and any motor on a public highway needs insurance and a licence under the Traffic regs.
@scorpa1063 жыл бұрын
@Cliff Short Only the motors exceeding 20mph. Cos ebikes can go faster than the motor limit and exceed 25mph without any insurance tax or helmet being regulated
@charleshoy61813 жыл бұрын
@@scorpa106 I think if they limit the speed to 15 mph they have the problem of drivers being bums. Not leaving enough room. Well, up that speed and you negate that problem. The biggest issue is rider awareness. I have a modified e scooter and it hits 40 mph. I don’t get over taken and I wear full motor cycle gear. That’s the safe way

I've been hit at night by a fucking escooter!! You cant hear them they go too fast And even though it is absolutely illegal for anyone to use these machines on the pavements I have yet to see the police in my part of North London ever enforce this!! Increase fines and get these things OFF OUR PAVEMENTS!! The pavements are for pedestrians and they are the only possibly safe place to walk. That fucking woman with her marketing jargon has probably not been hit on her pavement! If she had maybe she might change her mind! But of course she's a corporate voice that is just trying to sell her wares!

We are in Speedwatch and never get invited to anything much. We have been going for six years now and volunteers are always increasing and more police letters go out now because of our activity. We have a mixed bunch of people but no driving instructors as volunteers which is surprising.
