You show a separate discharge pipe for the Water Commander through the foundation wall. Can the discharge from Water Commander be fed back into the existing sump pump discharge pipe, well above the pit in elevation, utilizing a check valve to prevent Water Commander's discharge from reentering the sump pit? I love your product, but do not wish to create a new hole in my foundation. Thank you.

Yes, you can tie the Water Commander discharge pipe into the main sump pump discharge pipe. You just need to make sure that (1) you tie above the check valve on the main pump discharge pipe, and (2) it's a good quality check valve with glue connections.

What is the little screw that is adjusted in the video for?
@WaterCommander
@WaterCommander 10 ай бұрын
The screw we adjusted is the run time adjustment. Here we adjusted it during operation to ensure it completely emptied out the barrel. But normally it is preset and you wouldn't need to change it. It allows you to adjust how long the Water Commander pump will run before shutting off. It comes preset to run for 10-15 seconds. If you look at the end of our installation instructions, you can read more about it: www.watercommander.com/literature/install-instructions

My grandmother (bless her) just bought one of these and thought she was ripped off once she realized there was no battery. Thank you for giving me enough information to tell her she actually bought an even better system. 👍

That was great information. Thank you for explaining that to me. I think I will be going with instead of a battery powered one.

Our article has links to different water pressure gauges you can purchase online or from hardware stores. www.watercommander.com/articles/how-to-measure-your-homes-water-pressure Water Commander™ backup sump pumps only use water-pressure to pump, no batteries or electricity. Even during power outages, when other backup sump pumps quickly lose power, Water Commander pumps will operate as needed for an unlimited amount of time. Learn more at www.watercommander.com

It does not have one built-in, but some types of backflow preventers are available to order with the pump. Visit the installation page on our website for more information.

How much municipal water is actually used ?
@WaterCommander
@WaterCommander 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. At 60 PSI and a 10 ft vertical lift, it uses 1 gallon of city water to pump 2 gallons of sump water. At higher water pressures, the efficiency improves to pump more than 2 gallons of sump water.

Is the float switch powered by a battery?
@WaterCommander
@WaterCommander 3 жыл бұрын
No batteries are used at all. The float switch is actually a valve, which when lifted releases a couple inches of water out of the tube. This in turn takes pressure off the diaphragm in the main valve and allows the pump to run. When the float drops, the pump will shut off when the main valve repressurizes.

Can it be configured to discharge into the same discharge pipe as the primary sump pump? Our discharge pipe goes underground and runs far away from the house, so it would be nice to use the already-installed discharge pipe to get it far away from the house.

Yes, that's a very common configuration. You can connect the Water Commander's discharge into the primary sump pump's discharge pipe, just make sure it's above a good quality check valve (for example the white PVC style rated to 75 PSI back pressure). This ensures no water flows back into the sump pit. The installation page on our website has photos showing this type of setup.
