Before making your decision to have your cataracts removed...do research!!!! Although the large majority of people are happy with their outcome...I am unfortunately in that 1-10 percent group of people who are experiencing issues. One month ago, I underwent cataract removal on my right eye...a PanOptix multi focus lens was put in. The second eye (left) was scheduled for surgery the following week.. BUT, due to my poor results, i.e. extremely blurry vision (which is now worse then b4 the surgery!) it has been cancelled. I have been advised by the surgeon to be patient...that my brain is adjusting (called neural adaptation phase), swelling, sensitivity to light, dry eye, etc. is causing the fogginess. Now into my fifth week postop I've been advised that lasek will more than likely need to be done. I realize that my situation is an anomaly but I'm regretting having it done. Important note: my surgery was NOT performed by Dr. Mauro! In my effort to gather knowledge, this video popped up.

Don't delude yourself into thinking your surgery will go like this. The outcome of my surgery was good, but the suction cup they used to hold my eye was extremely painful and left massive red marks on my eye. Apparently this is common. This video was very informative, the explanations I received pre-surgery sounded nothing like this, and even after surgery I was unaware of many of this information. Lasik is very common and no matter where you go they are going to want to rush you through every step of the process. Don't let them. Force them to thoroughly explain exactly what will be done, and how it will affect your vision throughout the procedure. I had no idea my vision would temporarily disappear when they cut the flap in my cornea. I didn't know how precise the process was or if I was even allowed to talk to say that I wasn't seeing the green light they were telling me to look at.

Just had this done yesterday. Zero pain during the procedure. Just pressure when they are suctioning on the machines to make sure they are completely centered. When peeling back the flap with that instrument, it looks like a needle up close but keep in mind it is not a needle haha. A little burning the first two hours after the surgery, which is why it’s good to take a long nap if possible. After waking up, I have had zero pain or burning and I’m at 20/20 vision already. Amazing experience and very worth the money.

It's best not to require sedation during LASIK! It's just unnecessary use of medications such as Midazolam, or Propofol for a procedure that takes about ten minutes! It's not necessary! LASIK in a VERy easy procedure, and if you really know what to expect, you will do fine!

Honestly I’m gonna say it I’m scared sh*tless of this. I would love to get rid of my glasses but the idea of me knowing my eye getting cut then peeled and then after that I’d have to get my eye painted would just scare me, I know it probably won’t hurt but the idea of it scares me, and I don’t know why one bit at all

I just had my lasik yesterday, and it was literally under 3 minutes. Your vision the day of is not great but by the end of the day you can see more, but your vision is hazy. I have haziness today but it's not nearly as bad. My right eye is already beyond perfect vision, my left eye is recovering just a tad slower. But as the day goes on it's infinitely better. You can't see them cut the eye, you are temporarily mostly blind when it happens and that's the only scary part. The blind part lasts maybe a minute but you can still see enough. It's worth it.

There are no pain receptor nerves in the eye. If your vision is dulled and the other nerves are slightly numbed, it feels like nothing.

I've had cataract surgery- and retinal re-attachment and the good eye is , he said, a very little Fractional bit off my prescription and wants to touch it up with LASIK-- my retinalr repair guy said DO NOT allow him to do that - even if it is FREE-- what gives??? Any ideas?? maybe something wrong? My GOOD eye- the one that only had a minor cataract- has no other issues.. and that is the one with the Panoptix lens- and needs a little help-- so he said LASIK-- My surgeion that did the retinal reattachment said NO. (he's a PIONEER- in some of the surgery techniques.. my retinal detachment was 5 year old and no other surgerion would touch it- but I'm beginning to see through it first time in YeARS.. getting slightly better evey day).. I tend to believe HIM-- but he won't say WHY he told me NOT to allow my other doc to do the lasik!!!! Any ideas??

Are you able to make out the surgeon using the instrument to pull back the flap or is the vision to blurry to notice?
