i like that JB welding of the nut onto the can. very slick. BUT you should NEVER use regular JB weld for heat applications get one of their high temperature products
If steel cans are used then the copper tubing can be silver soldered to it. This could potentially be scaled up a little in size to provide greater heating capacity. Used as an emergency radiant room heater or cooking for a family, this thing could be a game changer.

the most basic premise to understand is the pre-heating of the fuel. there was a heater used in the military back in the 40's that was nothing more than a circular tube of pipe with some holes in it near the end. the holes were aimed at the inner portion of the tube, the other end connected by hose to a diesel fuel drum.
