This is the first record I ever bought, for 99 cents, before I even had a record player. 200 classical LP's later, this one is still my favorite :)

I will always wonder how the premiere audience reacted at the end of the Dream of the Witches Sabbath. Nothing ever like it heard before.

Recording date: 23-24/9/1951 London . Quite a bit more rare than the 1954 version: this one hasn't made it onto CD so far.

It appears side 3 plays as side 2, side 4 plays as side 3, side 2 eliminated from transfer. Will attempt to create follow-up/replacement video within next year. Will remove present video at that time.

Very good performance. The first movement is particularly outstanding and I wonder why other conductors don't do like this. The less emotional finale is typical of Leinsdorf.

This is very beautiful piano music, brilliantly performed by the artist! And the images from the album cover are cleverly combined with the audio. I really appreciate this effort. One small matter I would mention is that Side 2 of the album is rendered first, and Side 1 second. It would make more sense to swap the two audio sections, which would minimize confusion as to which piece the listener is currently hearing. Additionally, perhaps the title of each piece could momentarily flash on the screen at its beginning.

This is the recording that tore me from Aretha to a lifelong relationship with another great artist... who also sang with her whole body and soul.

1958, I believe. Record is in stereo, not sure if it was recorded in stereo originally or just simulated stereo for the reissue.

This is a fantastic little record, I'm not sure if all of it has ever been digitally reissued. Was happy to happen upon a clean copy to make the transfer. It's gets lost in translation, but the direct analog audio fidelity is out of this world and unbelievably true to life. Really glad you're enjoying ~cheers

Thank you @disndat12345. I haven't been through my vinyl collection in years. I have this recording. I played it, brilliant performances and amazing sound, via the terribly missed Musical Heritage Society. The best record, and later CD club ever.

Thanks for your input - this seems to be a really special label that did a lot of European reissues and had quite a few of their own releases -very much before my time. About a year ago, an estate was liquidated in my area and I was able to purchase a collection of about 200/250 of these discs all in mint (if not truly unplayed) condition. They range from the very early 70s into the early 80s/ early digital era. Checking KZbin, I realized they're woefully absent and I've been making it my missions to rip and upload everything I have. I only do very light editing (fade outs between pieces, etc.) Stick around I've got plenty more.. Since I try to get every inch of the Jackets in the video, it's a pretty labor intensive process, so I'm slow. At any rate, I'm really glad you're enjoying and it's bring back some good memories!

@@disndat12345 Thank you. As I wrote, The Musical Heritage Society, was a monthly record and later CD club. A catalog would go out monthly with a featured release of the month. Members had the choice to choose the feature, order something else, or nothing at all. MHS also had a jazz club. It operated on the same model as their classical club. All the releases as you correctly stated, were major European labels like Teldec, DG, Chandos and the like. MHS would acquire a license to reissue those recordings under the MHS banner. The company later went to digital and CD issues only. Giving up vinyl and cassettes. The death knell for the company came in the form of streaming. I'm guilty too, that's all I do now. In its present form, after being sold to Allegro, and sold again, it has folded into Archiv. A mail order only service. Again, thank you. I look forward to new uploads.

Thank you! I like to make a point to add the rich liner notes with the uploads. I am pleased to see your message - what you're hearing is a direct from Vinyl transfer from a mint condition record in such excellent condition, it can so very easily be mistaken for a CD - rare indeed. Cheers.

I am currently uploading a fantastic mid-1950s Mendelssohn/Bruch record from Mercury Records, which made exceptional sounding records from the 1950s into the 1970s. I will continue to upload a trove of my Musical Heritage Society collection as time allows (these are my true gems). Keep listening out there! Ciao!
