You really don’t need to declutter makeup if it’s technically expired unless it changes in smell/texture/appearance or performance, except for mascara which should be binned after 6 months at the latest because as you use it you inevitably get some shadow inside it and the bacteria is a risk for eye infections. I get mini mascara and bin them after 3-4 months by which time I’ve nearly finished them anyway. Powder products can easily last 3-4 years without going bad.

I aspire to have a small collection like yours! For now, I've managed to stabilize the number of products I have. Perhaps gradually, I'll be able to significantly reduce the number of products I use! Step by step.

In my experience Merit products expire extremely quickly. I bought the highlight stick and it smells like rancid oil within a couple of months.

Just to let you know nail polish doesn’t really expire. They can get thick but that doesn’t mean the formula has completely gone off. You can use thinner and it’ll sort it out.

I have the same feeling about Valentino 🥺 the jasmine in it makes it very perfumy and gives me a headache but when I smell it from the bottle I love the berries and the sweet fizziness of it 😫 I don’t love it but I can’t seem to let it go 🙃

This was a great video. Love your color selections. They are classics and definitely some of my go to colors. I do have a big collection, but I noticed there are some polishes I purchased just because. And I don’t find myself using them. I would love to stick to one brand and create a more curated collection. How were you able to choose one brand? Did you research it? Try it out first? I’m searching for some inspiration. Lol. 😊

Thank you! I never had a huge collection to begin with, so it wasn't too difficult for me to switch over to one brand when I finally found one that I liked. I was in the market for a non-toxic brand of nail polish a couple years ago and the ones I was trying at the time didn't work out for me. I guess the instagram algorithm wore me down with constant ads from Static Nails and I finally got a few to try out during one of their sales. The rest is history 😊

I feel you on the "just because" purchases. I have a few that I'm like, "looks nice" but honestly they don't spark a fire in my soul. Then I'm at a point now where my fave base and top coats are getting a price increase and looking like they will be discontinued and I used my one-last-manicure worth of my best top coat on a "meh, it's nice" colour and now I'm actually seeing the *cost* of keeping these colours around, literally wasting further money and the time I put into doing my manicure.😅
