Thank you for the vid and the great memories! I moved to Atlanta at 16 years old in 1948 while Atlanta was in its heyday of activity. My parents ran the only gas station, along with a restaurant and bar named The Bank Club, directly across the road from The Hub, another restaurant and bar with pool tables. Two mines worked around the clock pulling out rich gold ore 7 days a week. we had around 200 families living in Atlanta in those fun days. Any old-timers still around from those days? Love to hear from you right here! thank you for indulging an old man!

For young people unless they're into sports is a bad bad place to grow up . Nothing to do except drive your car up and down the main streets. Hope that'll band would come to the armory for what the hell for dances.

I grew up relatively near there, and would go to summer camp near Anderson Ranch Reservoir when I was a kid. I spent a lot of time in the area, Pine, Featherville, etc. Fun fact, the water level in Anderson used to be a lot higher until I swallowed a ton of it trying to water ski…

The bar that's in the middle of the cow catcher that was used for double heading and their top speed was about 35 mph the reason being is because their brakes weren't the best if they had any breaks at all... This is why they had brakemen... They also didn't have a couplers back in those days they had link and pin it was the brakemen's responsibility to couple the train... It was said back in those days if you were missing a couple of fingers you were a good brakeman a lot of brave men were killed back in those days trying to couple cars
