In1969 at age twelve I built "the yardmaster in N scale with Atlas selectors for control. My friend had to bring his power pack and train so we could run two trains. After that I inherited a spare room in the house and my brother bailed out of the hobby giving me a freight yard he had built. Six months later I had an around the wall layout with hardshell scenery and two train operation. We made switch lists and we were really having fun. I'm still enjoying trains this many years later. Out of curiosity, unless you are mixing in additional audio from a source other than the rack gear or sending audio from the rack gear to a second radio/device, is the mixing console actually needed? Also, do you know of any reputable shops in PA than can do a direct inject or Mauldulator install? Years ago I would have attempted it myself but I just don't have the dexterity for soldering tiny components anymore.

You'd be surprised putting these recordings up some people local to you might start dusting off equipment. I started getting more "active" putting things out on social media and our local activity picked up. Feel free to check out when I do live gates.

I was listening to you guys while I worked. Its nice hearing good sounding stations and people just talking locally on CB. We do a similar thing here and post the videos.

Dude, that is cool. I have some HO train stuff boxed up in the barn down the road. Probably nothing great, but it isn't doing me any good so if you want it I'd probably give it away (or trade for AM radio gear if it's worth that lol). Some long flexible track sections, buildings, 2 or 3 switches, a couple engines and some cars. One of the engines is pretty good. The rest not all that great. Used to have a whole bunch of cork track bed but it's probably no good anymore. Haven't been into that stuff for a while, but it's sealed up good enough that the critters won't have gotten into it. Just decay from age. You are somewhere in PA right? If you think you might want that stuff I'll dig through it and take pics next time I am down the road. I go through the corner of PA a couple times a year. Could meet you somewhere or something. I'm in Fort Seybert, WV.
