Satyajit Ray was more influenced by Italian neorealism movies like Bicycle thieves to make films than other Indian directors. He wanted to bring that style of film making with amateurs to India

Unrealism simply reflects the temptations of the human condition. European and South American films also feature these "hero temptations," but why do they succeed globally? It's because: They present these elements as perspectives. They allow the characters to navigate these illusions, but from a distance - we, as the audience, understand this, and the director is on our side. This is a key difference. Rather than getting lost in the hero’s dreams, these films have structured plot points, climaxes, and conclusions. The narrative is carefully crafted, and as the character progresses, we are drawn into the story. In contrast, masala films tend to stagnate after the first plot point, with characters remaining static and lacking development. As a result, it's hard for the audience to connect with them unless we’re immersed in those circumstances ourselves.

Good video essay, but too many factual errors bro. Like, 1. You said Sholay is a copy of seven samurai, but showed "Once upon a time in the west" as scene copy. 2. It's "Memento", not "Momento", also I wouldn't say Ghajini is a direct copy, it's inspired, in the right way.
@amitbosefilms3 күн бұрын
Loved to watch this video but Ray's Pather Panchali sounds different in your narration, it's not patthar. As people spell Path then notice Bengali prefer to say 'o' rather than aa so we Bengali say Pother it means Path's and panchali is lyrical naration. A lyrical naration of the road/path. Actually it's an age old tradition when bengali housewives used to recite the lyrical note of mata laxmi on her grace. If we go back then we shall be able to understand the term 'Panchali' derived from the ancient bengali poetry collections of God and goddess. So original writer Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhaya saheb used such word(Panchali) to describe the journey of economically poor people of India. Hope this helps.

However I cant say much of other regions but in Bengal we have a couple of good artistic movies coming out in recent times which are having a moderate success. Every era movies are made as per the generation watching them. Like if you sit with your Grandfather you will have difference in opinion, he is right as per his time but your understanding does not line with it. Movies are reflection of present society and also entertainment. However we know that the cycle repeats so we may see the fashion change again
