I am a track and field official and I can say two things here. Several of these umpires have no respect for the players or coaches, and many of the players and coaches have no respect for the officials. Baseball is a fun sport to watch but there needs to be more respect on both sides. Players aren't perfect and neither are the umps. I make sure to be in charge when I run a track event but still give due respect- and it's why I get it in return. These people are ridiculous.

I watched a interview years ago with first base ump and he judged the baserunner being safe or out by the sound of the ball hitting the mitt and watching the foot touch the bag.
