Your welcome , it was the best and right choice , I agree. As Matilda couldn't accept it herself , her fathers family had the most right to accept it on her behalf. Let's remember they are Matilda's family too . I believe other than Matilda ..of course , Heath would have wanted his family, who he loved and knew him best , to accept it over anyone . Comments are now enabled on my channel .

The Oscar goes to the winner but in this win was posthumous , which means it goes (as Kim Ledger says in part 2 ) to the next of kin ..in this case Matilda . Matilda is a small child and cannot accept the award for her father, herself. Her mother Michelle was not his widow and they had split up before his death so it would be in very poor taste and highly improper for her to accept the award , even if it was for Matilda . That left his family to accept it for Heath on Matilda's behalf .
