Hi Becca, just wanted to say that your videos and art are a joy to watch. Hopefully you will be doing an update to the topic of “death” which you described in this video. I have absolutely the same issue. Since I recommitted to drawing and painting, I always feel that I mess up when introducing colour and always end up liking more the drawing or ink version then the finished coloured piece. I know that a lot has to do with just more practice and giving deliberate attention to colour, values, temperature and so on when practicing. Sending much love ❤️

Drawabox sounds like the education that I feel I should be getting. I know its not as formal or strict as school, but I'm tired of studying art history and receiving tasks without any proper actually education on how to actually make the art. I am willing to work hard, but I hate the feeling that I get when I realize that school is using up all my time and making me drift away from my dream to be some sort of artist one day. I really hope that I can prioritize my time and follow the course without giving up.

Every single day I get demotivated, frustrated, upset with my lack of progress - I come to your channel to gain my motivation back, to learn that if I focus, I will be able to make it, regardless of how much time it takes. You are an incredibles source of inspiration. I am starting Draw a Box routine. Perspective has always been painful and super complicated to me. Thank you for inspiring us.

doing it digitally. only have plans to do this course by myself and feedback with the small amount of people I talk to. If I get good because of it then the rule sucks, if I don't shame on me. I mainly just want to get good at drawing things so I can animate. also want to get away from the idea of "I can't draw that" when asked to draw something.

I typed Becca Rand in my youtube search bar to see what she has been doing. The thing in my feed was an advertisement for a clothing line called Jackelo. Apparently Becca was selected to design and paint a line of children's clothes with bugs. The clothing looks amazing.

Omg your art improvement with Watts is amazing, you inspired me so much, I'm trying to self-study art myself too 🥹 I'm also considering Watts for my journey, can I ask a quick question? Did you sign up for the Instructor mentoring plan in order to have your work accessed for whether you're good to move on to a more advanced course?

For the last part, im a digital artist, but i like to practice things traditionally, because i feel like i rely on the digital tools too much for a learning process. These tools are GREAT for when im trying to draw something nice looking, but halt my learning abilities when its for practice.

Currently at box 145. The thing that drives me crazy the most is outlining the silhouette of the box, which inevitably brings to at least one side ending up as a double line. I cannot for the love of me remain over the same lines consistently when engaging the shoulder.

WOW! I had been hoping someone would do a review of his course, so thank you! I was wondering if all of the paintings you did, like the landscape at the end, are those from references that he gives you, or are you required to come up with that stuff yourself? Thanks!

All reference photos are provided! It's an added benefit because you can see/watch previous critiques of other people's paintings from the same reference, which is helpful to avoid common pitfalls.

Honesty about our feelings is the most powerful common ground we have as humans. Thanks for sharing. Sometimes life feels like a struggle, but it's only our expectations for life to be different. Meditation helps a lot to accept and not get overwhelmed by our different mental states.

Started this yesterday. I'm 43, kinda OCD, so, attention is sometimes difficult if something doesn't grab me. However, I do feel the need to push through something, even if it's uncomfortable, just so I can see the end. I mean, I DID read through the entire Bible from start to finish years ago (took me months, but I got through it). Anyway, wish me luck.

Hi there I hope you see my message, I couldn't message you directly Becca Rand. That's okay! I have been drawing on and off. I drew mostly when I was young but now I'm 30 and I have wasted my life in between my young years and mid 20 years. I feel maybe I'm too old, I don't have enough life to reach the skill I wanted to if gaming wasn't an issue in my past. I have to find a normal world job for now to earn some money but I want to keep training and practicing so I can be a working artist one day but I am 30. Am I too late and am I just wasting my time?? Please what are your thoughts and how old did you start drawing?

It's good watching these older reviews as a new student working through the course. The current 50/50 rule (50% learning, 50% draw for fun) was obviously an important addition to the course.

I think they’re wonderful and you just need to go through your own form of training to feel like you’re freeing yourself up. But it’s about liking what you do, so if you put in the time and effort and you’re still not finding your flow state in gouache, move on. Based on watching many gouache artists, this medium in particular takes time. Love the flat 1930s travel poster style! But I also loved the girl with the pink dress.
