Glad to hear more information about what happened behind the scenes of Anemoiapolis I am glad that it and the complex exist- a more or less "return to form" for Backrooms stories. And welp- I am one of the people quite frankly annnoyed by SCPfication of the idea. Looked through the wiki and most of it is, to be honest, SCP rejects and rip-offs. As much as I am for artist enclaves, Backrooms wiki is full of articles that have a deserved mark of a SCP wanabee and in not a glamorizing way. As for myself, my take on Backrooms if I had to fill it up would be mix of Anatomy by Kitty Horror Show and Xen from Half Life mixed in with ponderings on the "chicken or the egg" of collective subconcions- a space that always was, that responded to thinking being's want of a home, but noone stepped in and now it's insulted and angry that something asked it to form a house and yet didn't live in it and with most things that live inside of it not being native, just things that fell in.

This game looks incredibly polished for a solo dev project. The same thing happened with Transcender, which was an incredible tech demo, which was supposed to lead into a second part, which would be a more complete project, but at this point it seems like it's never going to come out.

Giving alpha access before a working prototype seems like a bad idea in game development, they probably would have been better developing the game a bit further, then giving beta access when it's nearly done, as you don't want another cubeworld debacle.

I should mention that 'Pools' is a great game that mentions me in the credits - I think it's a great spiritual successor to my game and I'm so glad there are other devs out there who understand the assignment :)

I like internet historian as much as the next guy but copying his formula exactly just makes it feel I’m watching a knockoff. You should try and make it more of your own thing

I one day plan on making my own video game, and even though I haven't even learned coding yet I've already learned hundred of lessons of how to make good games through others' rise and falls. There was actually a video I watched over a year ago (maybe 2 now) that almost made me give up on this dream (and even now I'm a bit shaky as to if I will actually go through with it). It comes to the same kind of lesson learned that this video gives, although a lot more... can't really find the word. It was on if we'd ever get Half-Life 3, and it was a complaint to them not making it and how many waiting fans have died while waiting for it. I am a lazy person, and I procrastinate on everything. I've gotten slightly better recently, but I'm still not good. The idea that if I don't hold up to my exact word then everyone will turn against me scares me, especially since I always come up with new things to add to what I've already come up with in my head. Simply put, if I ever do make a game, and make more games, I'm never promising anything and I'm never promising a release date unless I already have it finished.

I supported this project a while back in 2022, safe to say I stopped after the 5th delay. The "testing" phase was literally just an unreal engine project with a poolrooms map thrown in it and some fancy lighting, nothing more. That took them 2+ years? Not being rude here but just realistic, that's definitely not how slow it goes ESPECIALLY when you're making money off of people backing the project.

I remember I subscribed to the patreon in later 2023, I managed to download the demo and it was indeed as it looked like in the recent trailer. It lagged a ton and I was playing with 20 fps but that's because my PC was shit. But besides that the demo had 3 levels and they were just boring with no lore at all. You just spawned in the water park and had to look for plushies at the water slides to proceed to the next level. To summarize, I finished it in like 20 minutes and just unsubbed from it lmao.

I'm a BIG backrooms fan (still am) and knew of the backrooms as a whole way before it blew up. I remember getting tiktoks of this game back in 2022 and getting excited bc it looked like an actual good and accurate backrooms game. I followed them for years and eventually stopped bc they never released the game on dates they kept saying. I recently watched the trailer and I felt let down bc it doesn't even feel like the accurate backrooms game they kept promoting/promising anymore. Sucks that they went down a bad path of lies.

I hope sven and his team are able to release a good game. I understand what its like to get so swept up by ambition that you lose sight of what's realistic. I'll likely still buy they game and I hope they learn from this and handle their next project better.
