Stellar vid! Definitely looked like an epic for sure. There's nothing like a little type 2 fun to make the adventure a bit more memorable 👍

This is why I love touring. See a line and go for it. It opens up so much terrain to explore. The possibilities are endless. Mad respect. ✊

Lots of hiking for so little. See signs of bears. The east is so wind whipped.

Got a tent flattend in a storm, so got the Hillebrg Tarra along with a second set of poles to double pole it as didn't want to go through that again. No such thing as overkill, winds in Scotland having been recorded upto 173mph which I doubt any tent could handle, the winds that flattened my tent were forcast to be upto 80mph, 1/4 the power.

Great work! Do you happen to have Strava route info ?

@@riko_flo no worries. I drove on US 2 to check out this line but couldn’t. It looks like it’s just after Maria’s pass

new vid to end my night woop woop good one per usual
Type 2 fun activated! I love my HMG Ultamid 2 tent but not for the winter. I'm ok with carrying a few extra pounds with my MSR Access 1 now days. This is what it's about tho! great video and the reality of winter ski adventures. It's hard! Cheers

Too bad there are so few glaciers left in Glacier.

Every time I try to ski on the East side I feel like the mountains try to tell me "you don't belong here". One of these days I'll ski Allen.

Love the video! Don’t you think a four season tent would handle better than a trekking pole tent? I used zpacks duplex on ghetto jmt and it handled ok in thunderstorms. No way I’d take that tent on a winter trip.

Awesome video, thanks so much for filming and sharing! I'm an avid backpacker but have never gone winter camping like that so it's cool to live through your experience and know what to prepare for once I decide to venture out in snow in the future.

It’s a Hyperlite and I am not sure of the model. Its their model with the single pole in the middle.

It seems like you failed the tent by not setting it up properly 🙈 😂 But seriously- they can handle a lot. Use the extra guylines HMG sent you with their tent. Be safe 🙏

What all happened to the tent? Did it break/tear or did the stake anchors just pop out? In those winds did you have any upper guylines attached? We've been in 70+ mph winds with the ultamid and as long as we had additional guylines attached we never had problems. But yours looked like it was getting hammered!
@riko_flo10 ай бұрын
There was much less snow than we anticipated, and we didn’t have much space to bury our skis attached to the lines. Eventually, the constant wind caused our skis to slice the lines with their edges!

Nice video, Riko Flo. Bummer about the tent, but sounds like a nice birthday overall.
