This is fascinating - because THIS IS EXACTLY how I learned knitting from my German mum! I didn’t know there were other ways of doing it beyond the needle-under-the-arm method my grandmother favoured. Well, learned something new - I’m knitting German style! ごめんなさ言う、私の日本語はわるいです、でもがんばりしたい:それの方法は母の方法でした。母からおしえました。母はドイツ人でした。べっこ方法あること知ません!それじゃ、ありがとう!
I just learned about your needles from a knitter from GERMANY who is well known for color work (Fair Isle knitting). I have some rather slippery yarn made with Blue Face Leicester wool (it feels like alpaca) which makes it more challenging to knit with slippery needles like the Addi Turbo needles. I need a bit more friction so the yarn doesn’t slip off the needles too easily. I’ve tried various brands of wooden needles and have found that they vary greatly in the amount of lacquer on the finish (with more lacquer adding more resistance while knitting and vice versa. Can you describe how much lacquer is on your needles in terms of how they perform with slippery yarn? (For reference I find the Crystal Palace needles to have “more” lacquer as compared to the Lykke brand which has less lacquer and the Holtz and Stein ebony needles have the least amount of lacquer in comparison, almost no lacquer (or none at all). All three examples you might be able to refer to as high, medium and low. Each one offers a different amount of tension between the yarn and needles while you knit. Would you say that your needles fall into the high, medium or low range with the amount of lacquer finish? I wish I could buy just one size to give them a try but I’ve only seen them sold in full sets. I would love to get your feedback if someone can reply.
