Very skillful work. Is there just one hole drilled in the centre on the side of drum? Is that for the sound to escape?

Yes, it is similar to a war drum (civil war drum), but now it is mostly used for folk music.

Hi! I started to see your videos, I have finished my second djembe and i wanted to thank you after seeig this i feel very inspired to try to do the whole set of dundun drums as a future project. One question, instead of using steal barrel, i am thinking to do it with pvc tubes, do you think the the iron rings could hold tight? i see the barrel surface is not flat as a pvc tube. Im not quite sure about the lenght of the ring. Thank so much for sharing your art!

Nice. I have one made out of a metal drum. Just wish I can find away to soften the ring. The drum rings with overtones. Thinking of opening the drum and lining the inside.

I'm going to make one of these, and to stop the ringing, I will stick a flat piece of sponge around the outside, maybe half inch or 3/4 thick, and then cover that with dark colored kinte cloth. I think that will work.

Update. I did it. I made the sangban this size, and the dundunba with a bigger barrel. There's still a little extra vibration, but it's minimal. I believe if I had stuck a layer of sponge inside it would have done the trick

Namaste! 🙏 the instrument you are making is called "Dhol" in my Language.. it's traditional Indian instrument and made exactly same way...!! Dhol is popular in almost every state of Indian Republic mostly in Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra...
