Nice one Bryan! Got that snappy snare sound that Menza used on Countdown. Pretty sure you nailed that perfectly! The opening fill is one for the books! Nice work
@RedGearMusic12 күн бұрын
Heh, Hey Mike! It's been a long time. I'm glad you enjoy the snare but c'mon, you have to admit, it sounds like a Roland module snare! I wouldn't be surprised if Megadeth actually used this as a sample. 🧐🤔 I'm still struggling accepting this in the mix. At one point, I literally threw my paper notes at the wall that listed all the different snares that I tried and sounded decent but ended up not working out. I finally gave up and just left it. You know me, I'm a perfectionist. Oh well. I should just let it go...maybe when I retire I'll remix it for funsies. Appreciate you leaving the comment and I'm still waiting for your comeback! 🤞🙏😎

I find this song incredibly hard to play not becaise of the notes, but rather because of the tempo
@RedGearMusic12 күн бұрын
I never thought the tempo was as challenging as it should be at 185bpm. The parts that really got me were the cymbal choke breaks. The timing on that screwed with me for a long time. Appreciate the comment! 🤘🤘

Dude, I don't follow why a comment isn't in this fucker. I've hit the like and I remember it. My comment started with telling you that I had only heard of Silverchair and this track alone got me listening to more cuts. This song straight hits. You are chopping wood on those hats! This is a great mix of heavy with melody and hook. The kit.........GTFO. Anymore I just come over here to envy any and all mixes from you. This ending is BRUTAL in the most beautiful way. That's sludged to the max

Yes! Why wasn't a comment in this fucker?! I was crying for days missing you and I had to reach out to slap you silly via messenger like a clingy little bitch. I like that term you used, "chopping wood on those hats". That's right man, I was feeling this groove really hard and it's why, as I've said, it's one of my Top 3 favorite drum covers. Bro, words can't express the gratitude for the support you've given me over the years. Introvert me feels like I'm in the cool kids club knowing you. 🤓->😎

This sounds friggin awesome Bryan! I get what you're saying about the snare sound, but I feel like it sounds better than you think... it's so sharp and it cuts through, and it definitely sounds in place with the kick and the super crisp production. I know how it is when you're wrestling with a sound, you really want it to hit the sound you have in your head... But let's talk about that intro... holy crap, dude.😳😳 This whole thing is killer -- great job my man! 🤘🤘💥💥

Thanks for the vote of confidence. But I'm sticking to my guns and still hating the snare sound. It could be a revisit in the future. @RedGearMusic15 күн бұрын
Yea, that intro took a long while to get the speed. I started off practicing it at 50% slower in Logic and slowly worked my way up. I got really good at 10% slower but once I got to normal speed it still felt way too fast. I kept on working and working at it and I did like 10 takes before I got one to sound close. Glad I never have to play this live. LOL. Thanks for the comment!

Trey man. Hope you are well rested! I thought you gave up on commenting on my videos. 🫨🤯 Seems like a minute since the last comment you left me. But I get it, your hot shit famous with those abs of steel! LOL. Anyways, yea man. I struggled hard with the mix on this one and still to this day, I hate the snare sound. It sounds like a cheap Roland module snare, not the usual Superior Drummer 3 mix I like! I wanted to stick close to the original, which is a very dry snare anyways, and I just couldn't nail it. I loved everything else about the kit, the kick especially as you pointed out, but the snare will forever haunt me. Anyways, enough of my bitchin'. Next month's cover is going to be lame as well. I can feel it...but at least the kit on that one sounds good. 🤣 Can't win em all. Have a great weekend man.

The snare is sweeeet -- you did a great job with the tight playing & great groove too. Absolute perfection dude. I've never heard of LALAL.A... it sounds like a great resource. And well, leaving a door open is better than a camera crapping out during a recording... boy that sucks when you go to turn the camera off and it's already off!😩😡 Doh! 🤘🤘💥💥

YO! Mike! Love seeing your comments each month, always puts a smile on my face. This kit is mainly the SD3 Core library, especially the snare, all SD3 Core on that one. All the toms start with a base instrument from the SD3 core library then I layered an additional tom from The Rock Warehouse SDX on each one. All crashes are from the SD3 core with the ride and china from the Drums of Destruction EZX library. The Drums of Destruction EZX has one of the best sounding ride cymbals out of all my libraries! It's a shame too because that's really the only thing I use in that library consistently. I did use a snare layer from that one on a Type O cover but other than that...meh. Yea LALAL.AI is my go to for drum track removal. I find it does a great job and do recommend it! Thanks as always man! Sorry for the long reply! 🫣😁🤘😎

This is the 2nd comment you left commenting on the snare sound, which goes to show, that getting a great snare sound is crucial when building a kit. I struggle many times finding a good working snare sound, whereas yourself, you seem to always nail those snare sounds! I should take lessons from you! 😁😂 I am seriously debating myself for my September drum cover on the snare sound, it's so cringe, but it pretty close to the original, so I don't know what to do. I'd like to hear your opinion on that one when it's released. 🫣🤔 Take care.
