Seems like I’m a similar rider to you. Crf450x/RL, vs KTM 500, vs beta 500rs, which would you choose?
@fynn825213 күн бұрын
@@MiguelCatch22 Given those options (and I’ve ridden all 3), I’d probably go with a used, well maintained KTM 500. The engine is torquey and low revving which makes it great for long distance off-road exploration. For pure dirt performance and fun, I’d get something smaller like a 250/350 4 stroke or a 2 stroke.

Just picked up a 2025 wr250f day before Thanksgiving. Have a full walkaround on my channel. So far I'm loving it. I am also in Arizona.

That's awesome! I absolutely loved my 2020. Kept it stock for the most part. Just did a suspension re-spring and installed the competition ECU. During my 200 hour ownership, I just cleaned the air filter and replaced the oil every 15 hours. No valve adjustments or top-end. Solid Yamaha Reliability! 👍 Decided to pick up a used 2023 this year. It came a Full Akrapovic System, GYTR Intake and ECU. Man what a difference in power delivery. More torque and snap off the bottom. If you're curious what it's like, I'd be happy to let you take it for a rip! I'm in the East Scottsdale area.

What lighting kit did you use for the road legal aspect? The Tusk kit I see online looks clunky and not nice and slim like yours. Yours looks like the “tidy tail” kit from TacoMoto. For the front blinkers, what are they mounting to? I’m in the market for another bike- had a 2019 FE501, but want the reliability and maintenance intervals from Honda, so I’m considering the 450x. Thanks.
@fynn82523 ай бұрын
This actually is the Tusk Street legal kit. It’s tucked underneath the plastics so it appears smaller. The front turn signals are mounted to the upper triple clamps. Basically it’s a thin oval sheet of metal with 3 holes. 2 for the upper fork pinch bolts and one for the turn signal. Looking back, I wouldn’t buy the kit again because the wiring harness was so bulky and didn’t route nicely. I just zip tie my license plate to a backpack and signal with my hands. I don’t spend much time on the pavement with these dirt bikes.

I can see where you find it to feel light in the front. I’ve ridden a friend’s WR and it felt heavy and dead in the front, but my background is motocross, so I’m use to light nimble bikes.
@fynn82528 ай бұрын
For sure! I think it comes down to what you’re used to and how the bike is setup. It took me a while to find the right settings on the WR. To be more fair, this Beta was not sprung or valved for my weight and riding style.

I do not own this anymore because I downsized to a 250. Being a Honda, it will last a long time and shouldn’t give you any trouble down the line. My only gripe is the X hasn’t been updated in almost 6 years now. It’s still capable and great, but it will continue to fall behind the competition. The updated WR450F is a solid bet if you want to stay with a Japanese brand.
