how long did it take you to take it down entirely? lessons learned?
@weaversstonehousefarm18 күн бұрын
@michaelbiehl7892 great questions! we had it mostly down in a day. Probably about 12 hours of work some of that in the dark. We have a small army of 7 of us, 5 children/young adults. We had to come back a second day for a little while to pull a couple posts out and some base boards, load, haul home, unload. First day only the flat deck trailer. Second day we had the flat deck trailer and the 4 cow cattle trailer. So rounded off, two days. If it was only two of us it would have been double the time. We have been doing construction our whole lives and are very handy with tools and sketchy ladder work and playing monkey on top of the bars to move quicker. Built a house onto our house at our last house from lumber we pulled out of a school that was taken down. Lessons learned: Label everything, twice! Write down what your labels mean if you use numbers on posts/poles Measurements. I really wish I would have measured L-R between some of the poles for and average. I wish I would have measured x’s from corner to I wish I would have measured marked a few of the posts for the exposed height as a nice to know. Corner. Take pictures. Your will scroll them to find assembly answers more than you will videos. Take video, slowly of each area. Particular attention to end walls, roll up walls, and my nemesis…..doors. Did we mention label everything with paint markers. Have extra ones. Not sharpies. Paint markers. Tall and short ladders are your friend. Don’t try to take the cover plastic off in a heavy wind day. We had enough people on a mild wind day to keep it under control when we rolled it up. Your forearms will get tired. It’s takes a lot to Roll that plastic up. Once you start you must finish, have help for this part. 3# hand sledgehammer and a 10# sledgehammer will be your friend to motive poles apart A strong battery powered impact is required for speed. Which we had. Bring charged Extra batteries Some bolts aren’t worth saving, generously use the sawzall with heavy duty/expensive blades. Lennox is my go to brand for those. Have a few of them. Cordless grinder equipped with cut off wheels helps speeds stuff up. Have extra cut off wheels and safety gear. The cutting of hardware depends on your budget for rebuilding. I only cut some. I should have cut more. Galvanized bolts aren’t that costly. Big lesson was a solid 3/8” rod would have greatly help speed up the post removal rather than playing with the bolts each time. The farm jack was the best way to get those posts out as we had adjustability for height. We didn’t use the weak 2x4 end walls or the doors that I took time taking apart that had plastic stapled to them. I wanted heavier duty as we have terrible strong winds all year. We rebuilt with 4x4’s,pre framed French door. I’m really glad we spent the big bucks on the polycarbonate end walls and the aluminum channels for them. Cry once on price. It was worth the time spent to do it. I was really disgusted with the state program for greenhouses as it is made for people that can’t built and hire all construction work out. I had looked into that many months or a year prior to this. Biggest lesson - GOD will guide you. Have faith. We were not looking for a greenhouse, we bought a weaving loom from a retired couple, we spent time getting to know them as they were great like minded people. I asked what else are you selling, maybe the greenhouse? They said yes it needed to go as the buyer for the property didn’t want it. We made and agreement and poof we had a greenhouse to remove and rebuild at our farm. Praise be to GOD.

I had two technicians try to fix this issue. I explained the issue. Keeps cutting out. Reset it and it works. Sometimes for hours. Sometimes for a few days. They basically looked at it but could not do anything with it. The last time I tried to reset it, I was just about to hit the reset button but before I could press it, I touched the SIDE of the unit and it fired up? I suspected a poor connection, but was not sure if it was on circuit board or elsewhere. After watching a video of how to install this unit, I now realize how this happens.
