5 years Later... LED lighting has gotten so much better with high voltage circuitry...you don't require low voltage dimmer switches anymore
@LedLightExpert
@LedLightExpert 4 ай бұрын
we'll agree to disagree. 1. low voltage for dimmers has not changed, still required if you want to dim led lights above about 15 watts. Only thing that has changed in the last 5 years since this video is that they are all mostly 1-10v, which climates dim to off for safety reasons. 2. The high voltage circuitry in led lights is a cost cutting move that has risks associated, particularly for outdoor and higher wattage fixtures. Using non isolated drivers (150-500v dc) puts more strain on the board and reduces surge protection. We have an article on that here www.ledlightexpert.com/isolated-vs-non-isolated-led-drivers

Is this 5000 K or 6000 K?
@LedLightExpert
@LedLightExpert 8 ай бұрын
5000K only. 5000K is pure white. 5700K and 6000K introduce blue into the spectrum, while cool looking, its not good for the eyes to play under. Even the AMA(American medical association) says that 5700K and higher messes with the human body and melatonin production so we never sell it for functional lighting such as sports. use it for accent lighting, never for sports, warehouses, parking lots etc.

Depending on the model, the light can automatically turn on at night with a Photocell or be configured with a Motion Sensor using the remote control. The Motion Sensor has adjustable settings: three steps (bright, dim, off) that are fully customizable. Visit our website to read more about it www.ledlightexpert.com/Motion-Sensor-Parking-Lot-Lights_c_144.html or call our light designers at 800-674-9420 for assistance with your lighting project.

0-10V isn't a dimmer. Your dimmer is just some cheap triac.
@LedLightExpert
@LedLightExpert Жыл бұрын
The dimmer used in the video is a 0-10V dimmer from Lutron, the Diva Series DVSTV 0-10V dimmer, not a Triac dimmer, feel free to look it up with Lutron for confirmation and they have plenty of information about 0-10V dimming. Phase dimming is uncommon with any high output or commercial LED products and will destroy LED drivers if used and lead to a driver, or complete fixture, needing to be replaced when they require 0-10V dimming. Many high output commercial LED products can also use PWM dimming as well, but it is far less commonly used vs 0-10V dimming.

What happens if I don’t want the light to come on during the day? It’s motion activated only and want it to stay that way but only come on at dark.
@LedLightExpert
@LedLightExpert Жыл бұрын
The sensor has a built-in daylight sensor that allows you to adjust the ambient brightness level for when the light would come on. As long as you turn on the daylight sensor, it works based on the lux (brightness) level chosen. If the daylight sensor is disabled, the light will be on night and day. This setting is adjusted with short presses on the daylight sensor button and a long press (hold for 5sec) to engage or disable the daylight sensor.

What do you think about the problem with the wildlife triggering the sensor?
@LedLightExpert
@LedLightExpert Жыл бұрын
The sensors have adjustable sensitivity settings that can help if they are picking up unwanted motion from small animals. If you have large animals triggering the sensors, there's not much you can do no matter what type of motion sensor is being used.

Do you control different lights with the same controller? Can you installed them on a ceiling?
@LedLightExpert
@LedLightExpert Жыл бұрын
The remote programmer for the motion sensors is the same for all the NextGen 3 Lights as well as a few other series lights from RuggedGrade. You only need a single remote to program as many lights as you want, but due to range limitations of the IR remote, you can typically only program one at a time unless the lights are installed next to each other. We recommend having a spare for big projects or keeping a remote at each location if installing at different locations. We have different type of mount options for those lights for mounting to all different surfaces. If you need help figuring out the right mount or light, give us a call at 800-674-9420.

Retail store 20ft ceilings. I have 400 watt ceramic metal halide lights on the GE electronic ballasts. The combo started off at 110 lumens/watt and does not seem to lost much in brightness but of course the light comes out everywhere instead of coming straight down with led's. I want to maintain my brightness levels I currently have or more. Do you think 30,000 lumens will work approximately?
@LedLightExpert
@LedLightExpert Жыл бұрын
A standard cross for a 400W MH would be to a 150W LED fixture assuming comparable beam angles on the fixtures. MH bulbs tend to have bloated values on lumens and with high depreciation compared to LEDs, a comparable LED fixture will often have a lower lumen output if you are trying to compare it to a MH bulb strictly by lumens, but the effective light from the LED will often be brighter with a lower lumen count. Something like this might be a good fit for you: www.ledlightexpert.com/150-Watt-LED-High-Bay-UFO-Corvus-Series-Lights--21000-Lumen--33ft-cord--5000K-Bright-White_p_2411.html If you aren't sure, give us a call to speak with one of our light designers at 800-674-9420.

have 6 led panels and installed then on one 0-10v dimmer but i need 1 of the led panel to be on at night how can i do it thanks
@LedLightExpert
@LedLightExpert Жыл бұрын
That panel will have to be run to it's own switch. All lights on a single switch have the same behavior, so it can't be done on one. They make dusk to dawn capable wall switches, but you will need to run the wiring to that separate switch.

I want to convert some dusk to dawn barn lights to Led. They say I don't need to take out the ballast..... Is it better if I take out the ballast since it is no larger necessary?
@LedLightExpert
@LedLightExpert Жыл бұрын
We always recommend removing or bypassing the ballast when converting to LED if the old fixture uses a ballast. Even if the LED bulb is ballast compatible, it's going to shorten the life on the LED bulb, possible a very early failure. That ballast is also going to waste power and fail long before a good LED bulb should fail, so you'll be replacing/bypassing/removing the ballast later if you leave it in there. Save yourself the time, money and maintenance down the line and get that ballast out of the way when you make the switch to LED.

There is a setting on my remote that you can not have any of the Daylight numbers active on the remote. What will that do in the light? Also on my remote the Daylight setting has 10, 30, 50, 100. Do the lower numbers mean that the light will come on when it's darker? Thanks for the help
@LedLightExpert
@LedLightExpert Жыл бұрын
Pressing and holding the daylight sensor button for 5 seconds on the remote will cycle between the daylight sensor being disabled and enabled. When disabled, the light will react to your motion settings, night or day. When it is enabled, the LED light under one of the settings for the daylight sensor on the remote will be lit up (can be hard to see the lights on the remote in sunlight). When the ambient light drops below the lux level you choose, the light will turn on and follow the rest of the settings you ahve choosen. The lower the value of the lux setting, the darker it needs to be for the light to turn on. If you want the light to turn on as early as possible before it gets very dark, use the 100 lux setting; if you want the light to turn on once it is much darker, use the 10 lux setting.
