That was truly an epic adventure. I haven't backpacked in the Winds in several years and this is a reminder of why I need to get back out there.

What noodles are that and do you precook them or just soak them till they are soft?
@livingontheapexАй бұрын
Just some already cooked noodles from the grocery store and I just hit them with oil and water on the grill and they end up perfect. Really just need warmed up. Thanks for watching!!!!

What time did you guys start and stop hiking to only do 8 miles in a day?
@livingontheapex2 ай бұрын
@@rschreck876 we would start sometime around 8 am and end around 3 or 4 pm I think. We would stop and getting water when we passed running water. We would take our time essentially due to the elevation and our uncle being from Arkansas. Haha

Great video!! The short tower you found is a precipitation monitoring station. And the circle with hanging pieces at the top is an Alter-Type Rain Gage Wind Screen. The gage, which is not on this station, would sit in the middle of the wind screen at the top. The hanging pieces around the screen are called leaves and freely swing but create a wind screen to help the gage gather the precipitation. Snowfall is difficult to collect in any kind of wind, so these wind screens are usually installed in snowy areas. And now you know what I just found online!!! Hahah. Pretty cool. Though I much prefer my initial hopes which was that they were landing beacons for the aliens.

Your right. I used to go camping as a kid with my parents...but I think just trying to have enough supplies and gear to survive off grid for a longer period of time is somewhat different but your technically right. Thanks for the watch and comment. :-)
